CCSS Standards:
Develop understanding of fractions as numbers.
Extend understanding of fraction equivalence and ordering.
Build fractions from unit fractions by applying and extending previous understandings of operations on
whole numbers.
Main Lesson Aims (Concepts, Procedures, & Processes):
By the end of the lesson the students will be able to present a unit fraction on a number line.

Possible Problems: 1-misunderstand how to present fractions on a number line.
2-misunderstand some vocabulary related to the lesson.
Misconceptions: Student has restricted his definition of fractions to one type of situation or model,such as
part/whole with pieces. For example: students do not recognize fractions as a point on a number line or as
division calculations.
Solutions for the Possible Problems and Misconceptions:
Give instruction before starting the lesson.
Introduce the vocabulary that the teacher will use in the lesson.
The teacher will write an example for the students in, the board and explain the questions and how to solve
the questions to have right answer.
The teacher will but a timer for each activity.

The student will listen to the teacher instruction, then the students will
see the card for a few minutes then they should remember the cards.

First of all the teacher will introduce the fractions lesson for the
students by asking them what the meaning of the number line. And
then she will describe for the students the how to present fractions on a
number line.

The teacher will put the number line on the ground, then the teacher
will show the students fraction card they must see the card and jump on
a number line.

After that, the teacher will give each group a number line with frog
picture, the teacher will give students a fraction, then the students
should use the frog to jump on a number line.

Teacher will ask the students to present and share their answer and how
they get this answer in front of their class.

Students will focus and participate with their teacher. They will ask
their teacher questions when they didnt understand.

Students will try to solve the question to have a right answer.

The teacher will show the student's frog question in the Power Point for
all groups should be follow and participate to see which group have a
lot of points.
The teacher will give each student a worksheet to write which
fractions is missing to understand that the students have more
information for this lesson.
