INT. CHAMBER OF SAGES
Eyes open from the cameras point of view. Blue light
cascades down the distant dark walls, and the sound of
lightly flowing water can be heard. The camera focuses on
RAURU, an aged man in orange robes. The look of his face is
both serious and welcoming.
RAURU
Ive been waiting to meet you a
very long time Link. A lot has
changed for you...
CUT TO: a reflection of a fully grown link in the
water. Link looks down at himself. By the time we pan up
to his real face, it is filled with shock.
TITLE: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME.
INT. CASTLE COURTYARD - DAY
Link, now only a child, slowly makes his way across the
meticulously groomed garden, and nervously approaches the
figure of a young girl in white. She turns around,
surprised that someone is there.
ZELDA
How did you get past the guards?
Zeldas gaze falls on Navi, and her face turns to one of
wonder.
ZELDA
A fairy? Do you have the spiritual
stone of the forest?
Zelda looks excited, and clasps her hands together. Link is
confused, and a bit nervous.
LINK
I-Im Link.
Zelda giggles, and composes herself.
ZELDA
Where are my manners. I am
princess Zelda, and Ive been
expecting you.
NAVI
Did the Deku tree send word of our
journey?

CONTINUED: 2.
Zelda looks to Navi, and her smile fades.
ZELDA
It came to me in a dream... A dark
shadow covering Hyrule... and a
bright green light shining from the
old deep forest...
Zelda looks back to Link, smiling. Before another word can
be said, something dark passes by the window.
NAVI
Look!
Navi, Link, and Zelda turn towards the window in time to see
GANONDORF, kneeling before the unseen king.
LINK
Who is he..?
ZELDA
Thats Ganondorf, of the Gerudos
desert.
Link and Zelda look to one another, and we pan between them.
ZELDA
I believe his is the shadow
covering Hyrule in my nightmare.
Zelda turns back around to face Link directly. In the
background, Impa can be seen guarding the entrance.
ZELDA
I believe Ganondorf is after the
three spiritual stones of Hyrule...
She smiles again.
ZELDA
But youve already got one of
them...
INT. CHAMBER OF SAGES
Link is marveling at his grown up body, a look of concern on
his face. Navi is fluttering around erratically.
NAVI
Whats going on!? The last thing I
remember was-

CONTINUED: 3.
LINK
Pulling that sword out from the
temple of time...
Link looks down to a sheathed sword that is at his feet.
RAURU
And now, youve aged seven
years. The swords power tends to
do that...
NAVI
Care to explain?
Rauru sighs.
RAURU
You were brave in your quest to
find the three spiritual stones...
but foolish. When you opened the
door of time, Ganondorf was
watching.
LINK
We were trying to make sure he
didnt get the triforce!
RAURU
But you lead him right to it. he
holds the triforce of power
now. The others appear to be lost.
Link holds up his sword, admiring its edge.
LINK
So its not too late to stop him.
Rauru smiles.
RAURU
Its a little too early as well.
Link looks up, confused.
RAURU
In the seven years it took to turn
your body to that of a warrior,
Ganondorfs evil has
spread. Hyrule is not the world it
once was... but with your help we
can restore it.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 4.
Rauru holds out his arms, and a glowing gold medallion
appears before him, and travels to link. HE sheaths his
sword, and accepts the medallion.
RAURU
Our time here is short, and the
path ahead is long... but think of
me in your darkest times and I will
try to light your way.
NAVI
who are you?
RAURU
I am Rauru, the sage of light...
good luck Link.
Light covers the screen.
INT. TEMPLE OF TIME - NIGHT
As the light fades, Link and Navi find themselves in the
temple of time. The three spiritual stones are in their
proper place, but their light is dim. the green one barely
flickers. No light filters in from the windows above.
LINK
I dont like this...
NAVI
Lets try to find Zelda. Perhaps
she can tell us what is going on...
Link makes his way towards the temples exit, with only
darkness on the other side.
EXT. HYRULE SQUARE - NIGHT
Link slowly steps out of the temple entrance, and into
Hyrule square. Hes shocked to find the buildings falling
apart, and zombies where happy citizens once stood. Each
corner he looks in fades between his memories of town
square, and the existing reality.
Link slowly walks on, avoiding the zombies, who only barely
acknowledge his existence, too slow to get too close to
him. Navi stays close to link. They stop when they reach
the entrance to the castles pathway. In the distance a
darker and more guarded castle can be seen. Link looks
fondly at the spot for a moment.

NAVI
Zelda must be so scared...
LINK
Shes probably holed up at the
castle...
Link makes a turn in to the pathway that leads to the
castle.
EXT. HYRULE CASTLE - NIGHT
Link and Navi are standing on a ledge, with mist rising from
below. The dark castle looms over them, taller than Zeldas
was in the past. Link looks at it nervously, his sword
drawn just in case.
LINK
Its been re-built...
Link looks closely and sees the silhouette of Gannondorf
walk up to the window.
NAVI
I think our princess is in another
castle...
Links eyes narrow for a moment before he turns around. He
passes the corner of a cliff with vines. He looks at the
area fondly.
EXT. HYRULE SQUARE - DAY
Link, a child again, stands before Malon.
MALON
Hey fairy boy... Im just waiting
for my father. Hes delivering
milk to the castle.
Link smiles.
LINK
Maybe Ill bump into him. Im on
my way to meet the princess.
Malon holds her smile, but gets a disappointed look in her
eyes.

MALON
You should come visit our ranch
sometime...
EXT. HYRULE CASTLE - NIGHT
The vision fades, and Link is left looking solemnly at the
the vines. The cold silence is suddenly cut.
NAVI
WATCH OUT!
Link turns around quickly to see that a Zombie has made it
to him. Several others are not too far behind. Link
reaches for his sword but is too slow. The zombie grabs
onto Link, and they both fall over. Link and the zombie
struggle on the ground for a moment, before Link tosses it
to the side. He pulls out his sword and chops off its head
in one swift motion.
Link tries to catch his breath, fear running through his
body. He looks around him and finds that the other zombies
are closing in, none afraid of the same fate the first
zombie met.
LINK
Navi...
Navi shakes fast.
NAVI
Run!
Link sheaths his sword and runs as fast as he can, almost
tripping on his way back towards Hyrule square. We pull out
to reveal that Ganondorf is still watching him from the
window.
INT. GANONDORFS CASTLE - NIGHT
Ganondorf smiles down at Link through the window, who is
rushing back towards Hyrule square.
GANONDORF
So the legend is true...
Ganondorf chuckles. Behind Ganondorf, a figure stands in
the shadow.

CONTINUED: 7.
SHEIK
Do you wish for me to eliminate
him?
GANONDORF
On the contrary...
Ganondorf turns to face the shadowed servant.
GANONDORF
I believe we should give him a push
in the right direction.
The shadow figure tilts its head.
GANONDORF
For seven years the triforce of
wisdom and courage have eluded
me... and that damned princess
to. Let the hero of time play his
games... and in time he will lead
me to them.
The shadow figure steps out, revealing SHEIK.
SHEIK
Yes, Ganondorf.
Sheik throws down a deku nut, disappearing. Ganondorf turns
to look back out the window.
GANONDORF
Play your part, Hero of time... for
time is running out...
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
Link leans against the wall of an alley, head clutched
between his hands. In the distance, a zombie can be seen
slowly stepping out of the darkness.
NAVI
We cant stay here long...
LINK
Zelda... what did we do?
Link looks down at the cold brick floor.

EXT. LON LON RANCH - SUNSET
Eponyas theme can be heard from the outside. We zoom in to
reveal child Link finishing the song, as Eponya approaches
him. Malon smiles, petting the horse.
MALON
It seems shes fond of that tune...
Link smiles, pocketing the fairy ocarina.
MALON
And you learned it quickly.
LINK
Cant stay too long anyways. Im
almost done with my quest.
Kid link smiles smugly, buffing his chest a bit. Malon
smiles.
MALON
It sounds like fun. I always
dreamed of someone taking me off on
an adventure...
LINK
The princess sent me to gather the
spiritual stones for her. Now that
I have them all, were gonna save
Hyrule together.
Malon maintains her smile, but makes the same disappointed
glance towards the floor at the mention of the princess.
MALON
Is she as beautiful as they say?
Link looks embarrassed.
LINK
Even more so.
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
Link is now looking up at the darkly clouded sky. It has
begun to rain. Link looks drained from the fear. The
zombie can be seen getting a little closer.
LINK
We were just kids... we had no idea
what we were getting ourselves
into...
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 9.
A wide shot shows the destruction of the alley.
LINK
Just look at what we did...
Navi huddles closer to link, shivering a little.
NAVI
Im scared, Link...
The zombie comes uncomfortably close to approaching Link,
who does not acknowledge it. He smiles cynically as the
rain becomes harder.
The zombie raises its arms about to grab at Link. From the
shadows steps SHEIK, a tightly dressed ninja-like young
man. He steps forward with his eyes closed, and uses a
single kunai to quickly decapitate the zombie. Link finally
reacts, a bit surprised. Sheik stops, opening his eyes.
SHEIK
Ive been searching for you, Hero
of Time...
Link falls back to his cynical depressed state, leaning
against the wall.
LINK
Some hero I turned out to be...
SHEIK
The power of time has given you the
body of a man, but you are still a
child in heart. You were brave
before, and you can be again.
LINK
Did you see me back there?
Link gets a little angry, clenching his fist.
LINK
This isnt- this isnt a game
anymore... Those are real monsters.
SHEIK
Its true, the creatures you faced
before are nothing compared to the
ones that have ravaged this
land. But something gave you the
courage to face them before...
Link looks up, a little surprised.
10.
EXT. HYRULE GATES - NIGHT
The drawbridge comes down, and child link quickly jumps out
of the way of a horse. As it runs off in the distance, he
can see Impa holding Zelda close to her. Link gasps. Zelda
looks back at him, longingly, and with fear. She throws an
item towards him, and it lands in the river.
NAVI
LOOK!
Link turns around to see Ganondorf sitting on a horse,
blocking the entrance. He gasps again.
GANONDORF
well if it isnt the princesss
little playmate!
Ganondorf holds out his hand, and charges up a blast. Link
lands on his back.
GANONDORF
Youll stay out of my way if you
know whats good for you!
Ganondorf rides off in the direction of the princess.
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
Link is looking ahead, lost in his daze. he snaps out of it
and stands up.
LINK
Everything I did... I did it for
her.
Sheik lets out an entertained "hmph".
SHEIK
Young love can make a boy do
foolish things. But youre not so
young anymore.
INT. TEMPLE OF TIME - DAY
Link stands before the door of time, with the three
spiritual stones floating in place. He is playing the song
of time, and the door opens. He enters the room
expectantly, but is surprised to find only a sword in the
stone.
11.
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
Sheik turns to face Link directly.
SHEIK
Your princess is somewhere out
there, Link. Are you ready to be
brave again?
Link nods, as flashes of him pulling the sword of the stone
come to his mind. He pulls the sword out of his sheath and
stares at it, as he remembers.
LINK
Yes.
A close up of Links hand reveals a Golden triforce piece
appearing for a short minute, flashing with his bravery. At
that moment a zombie appears suddenly behind Link, taking
him by surprise. He quickly turns and slices the enemies
head off with his signature "HYAH!". HE stands in silence
for a moment, impressed by his own bravery. Sheik watches
from the distance.
SHEIK
To find your princess you will need
the help of the sages. One on a
high mountain, one in a vast lake,
one in a house of the dead, one in
the sands of the desert, and one in
a deep forest. I suggest you begin
your journey there.
LINK
Who are you?
SHEIK
Im the last of the Sheikahs, and
an allay to your cause. The few
who know of me call me Sheik.
Link is a bit suspicious, and takes a few steps forward.
LINK
Why do you hide behind that mask?
Before Link can even reach for it, Sheik throws down a deku
nut, and disappears in a flash. Link looks around,
surprised by this magic, and is quickly caught off guard by
another zombie. He does another slash of his sword, and it
falls to the ground. He smiles victoriously.

LINK
Wed better get going, Navi.
NAVI
Weve got a long road ahead of us.
Link runs off down the alley, excited and re-charged. We
pan out to reveal Sheik, watching him from a rooftop.
SHEIK
Stay brave, Hero of time...
EXT. HYRULE GATES - DAY
Link is standing in Hyrule field, which looks far less
dismal than the town he just escaped from. The sun is
slowly rising, and he is smiling.
NAVI
The Forbidden Forest is a long ways
away... how are we going to get
there?
LINK
I have an idea...
JUMP CUT TO:
EXT. HYRULE FIELD - DAY
Link is pocketing the Ocarina of time, riding away on
Eponya, disappearing into the flare caused by the rising
sun.
