Infanticide or 'baby dumping' as many Malaysians would have called it (I'd rather call it infanticide), is

becoming a big issue here. I can't remember one week where I didn't see any news about babies found
dead in garbage dumps, drains, etc. It's terrible.

The Malaysian government had taken many measure to lessen the occurrence of these cases - even
eradicate them altogether - and recently they have decided to charge anyone found guilty of this form of
infanticide with a mandatory death penalty.

My question to you is: is such a decision justifiable? Should the parents who killed the poor child be
charged with a mandatory death, or should they be given a chance to repent?

Either way, whatever we decide, it may be of no use since you can't bring the dead child back to life
again. But any decision taken today may save the lives of other innocent children later on, and give
them a chance at life.
I like to think that death is fair enough for someone who's cruel enough to murder an innocent child
before it even barely spent a few hours of its life. "A life for a life" as they say.

I think the death penalty is the ultimate force a government can use to discourage behaviors. Infanticide
is something that I feel should be discouraged with the greatest prejudice. Because of this, I think that
the death penalty is the necessary force required to prevent infanticide. Beyond that, enforcing a law
shows that you're serious. I think that the law should be passed and then a handful of people should be
sentenced.

Is It A Murder Of Baby?
The Malaysian Cabinet recently announced that all cases of abandoned babies in the country will be
classified as murder. Now in an attempt to clarify the official position of the government, Malaysian
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the police must investigate every case of baby
abandonment before a decision could be taken by Attorney-General to classify a case as murder. So,
this does not mean that all cases of abandoned babies will surely be classified as murder.
