Code of Conduct

The Tuggeranong Adult Riding Club (TARC) was formed in 1997 and is incorporated under the
Incorporations Act 1991 of the ACT. It is a horse riding club for adults over the age of 18 years. It was
formed for the purpose of fostering an interest in the care and training of horses through the
conduct of club training days, clinics and seminars conducted by local and visiting specialists in the
equestrian field. The club is located at Kambah Pony Club, Hake Street, Kambah.

1) THE RIDER
a) All members while engaged in mounted club activities whether at the grounds or at club
events must wear approved riding boots (short or long) and a current approved safety hat. If
you are in doubt about your gear, please ask your instructor for advice.
NO MEMBER/VISITOR WILL BE PERMITTED TO RIDE AT A CLUB EVENT UNLESS THIS RULE IS
COMPLIED TO OTHERWISE THE CLUBS INSURANCE POLICY WILL BE CONTRAVENED.
b) All riders have a duty of care to themselves and all members/event participants.
c) It is the riders responsibility to conduct safety checks on their equipment and clothing
before the session begins and you mount.
d) All members should help to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all regardless of
their gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or religion. We aim to provide opportunities
for people of all abilities to participate in the sport and develop to their full potential.
e) It is the riders responsibility to observe rules and procedures in relation to maintaining their
own safety, ensuring the safety of others and maintaining the welfare of the horse/s that
they ride.
f) All breaches or concerns are to be notified immediately to the Club day Organiser or
Instructor /Committee member.

2) THE HORSE
a) The club expects members to present their horse in good condition. Should a horse be
deemed unfit or lame, or in any way not fit to be ridden, the club reserves the right to refuse
permission for the horse to attend and participate on the day.
b) All saddlery and other gear must be safe and well fitting.
c) If it becomes apparent that safety is compromised by the presence of a horse, or rider, or a
combination of both, you may be asked to leave the area (away from others).
