ROUTE: PO DOSAGE

Adult: 250-500 mg every 8 hours.

Children; 20-40 mg/kg/day divided dosage given every 8 hours

This drug acts by preventing the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It inhibits cross-linkage between the linear peptidoglycan polymer chains that make up a major component of the cell walls of both Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria.
