A giant from Malaya threw chunks of rock from a mountain into the sea to cross to Australia. Over time, the rocks formed the islands of Indonesia. The larger rocks fell closer to Malaya, forming Sumatra and Java, while smaller rocks fell further, becoming Bali, Lombok, Flores and Timor.

One Little Piece Of Cake
One morning, minah went to visit her neighbour.
When she left the house, she had a plate in her hand. It was filled with cakes. Minah’s friend had make some cakes and she had given Minah some to take home. On her way home, Minah was looking at the cakes and smiling to her self. She was thinking how lucky she was that her brother was at work. Now she could eat the cake all by herself. As Minah was climbing up the stairs to her house, a piece of cake slipped from the plate. Quickly Minah tried to stop it from falling. But alas , the whole plate of cakes fell from her hand! Minah could not bear to lose one piece of cake. But now she had lost everything! The Island Of Indonesia
Long, long ago, agiant lived in Malaya. He loved to
travel and had gone to places as far north as the Himalaya, Russia and China. One day, the giant decided to visit a distant land that it saw across the sea. This land known today as Australia. The giant thought that building aboat would take him too long. So he pulled out huge chunks of rock from a mountain and threw them into the southern. The larger and heavier rocks fell closer to the Malay Peninsula, while the smaller ones fell further away. Soon, there was a line of rocks for him to step on. By making use of this, the giant reached Australia. In latter years, this rocks of many shapes and size were given different names. Today , we know some of them as the island of Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Flores and Timor! The Two Foolish Men One day, Two man set out for the market, Each of them carried a sack of rice in his back. They walk along quietly for some distance. Then one of them said ,”With the money that I get from this sack of rice, I shall buy a goat. The goat will have kids. When the kids are big, they will have more kids. And I’ll have a large herd. Then I shall sell them and earn a lot of money.” “I shall do better than you,” said the other man. “I shall buy a cow and within a few years I’ll have many cows giving me a good supply of milk. I will be richer than you.” “Oh realy?” said the first man. “Of course!” said the other. And soon the two men were fighting each other. Their clothes tore and the rice spilled on the ground and was trampled upon. Finally the two men had to return home with neither a goat nor a cow. There was no rice left; there was not even a coin in The Magic Presents When Sujak left his old uncle after working for him for a year, he was given a stick and a pieces of cloth. “Now Sujak,” said his uncle,”take good care of this cloth. You just have to say, ‘Cloth lay the table’ and your meal will be ready. This stick will always protect you. If you point the stick at anything and say, ‘Start Stick’, it will be beating that thing. It will stop if you say ‘Stop Stick’.” On the way home, Sujak stoped under a tree. The magic cloth served his meal. Then he lay down to sleep, all this while, a thief had been watching Sujak. He was about to run away with the cloth, when Sujak awoke. At once, Sujak pointed the stick in the man’s direction and sent it after him. “Help! Stop! Stop! Call this thing off,” cried the thief. “ I shall give you back your cloth.” Sujak stoped the stick and the thief hurriedly returned the magic cloth. Then he ran A Visit To The Doctor
One day,Khatijah felt ill. “I shall go into town and visit
the doctor,” she told her husband, Sudirno. So she set off. in her surprise, she saw a new doctor seated there. “The other one ison leave,” she was told. The doctor took out his file and began t talk to Khatijah. “What is your age, please?” he asked her. Khatijah was silent, for she could not remember! She thought for a while. Finally, she exclaimed, “I think I know! You see, I was fifteen years old whn I maried Sudirno and he was twenty-five. Now my husband is fifty, which is twice the number. That means I am twice fifteen. So, it makes me thirty years old, doesn’t it doctor?” she asked in serious tone. But the doctor had already burst out laughing. Through her simple calculation, Khatijah had made herself ten years A Honey-bear Goes Fishing There once lived a honey-bear in the jungles of Sumatra. One morning it saw it’s fiend, a monkey, eating some fresh fish. “Monkey, may I have a little of the fish to taste?” asked the honey bear. “If you want to eat fish,” said the monkey, “you can get plenty of them from that river over there.” “But how do I catch them?” enquired the bear. “That’s easy,”said the monkey smiling. “You just have to put you tailin the river. When you feel something tugging at your tail, pull it up. And there will be a fish at the end of it. At once, the bear hurried away to the river. It lowered its tail at the side of the bank and waited. After a long time it felt a sharp pain. “It must be a big fish,” Thought the bear. It got up quickly, but there was no fish at the end Erman’s Dream Once up on a time, a poor farmer called Erman had a dream in which he heard a voice telling him to go and stand at the foot of the bridge in Jakarta. It said that if he did this good fortune awaited him. Erman did not have any money for the trip so, he sold his chickens and goat to raise the money he needed. He arrived in Jakarta and for many days, he waited at the foot of the bridge. But nothing happened. Finally, disappointed and penniless, Erman decided to return home. However, before he did, a man who had observed Erman standin there daily , asked the reason. When Erman Told him, he roared with laughter. “You foolish man,” he said. “I too had such a dream once. I was told I would find a chest of jewel if I went to a particular spot in the country-side.
