    The Three-Move Matchstick Game can be solved by moving 6 matches from the pile of 11 to the pile of 7, making it have 8 matches. Then 3 matches can be moved from the remaining pile of 5 to the pile of 6, making it have 8 matches as well. The final move is to move 2 matches from the pile of 5 to the pile of 7, giving all piles 8 matches each, in only 3 moves as required.

    The Three-Move Matchstick Game


    There are three piles of matches on the table. One pile has 11, the second has 7, and the third has 6 matches. Your task is to move matches so that each pile holds 8 matches in the end. You have to accomplish this in three moves.

    Here are the conditions: You may add to any pile only as many matches as it (For example, if pile has 6 matches, you can add only 6 matches to it.) already has.

    All matches must come from one other pile. (For example, if you want to add to a pile no. 2, then all the matches have to come either from pile no. 1 or pile no.3. They cannot come from both no.1 and no.3.)

    Ladies and Gentlemen


    Three knights want to cross the river with their ladies. There is only one boat that can carry two people at a time. However, according to medieval etiquette, it would be improper for a lady to spend time alone with a knight other than her own. And, of course, in those days knights would never allow the ladies to row the boat. How can they all cross the river?
    SOLUTION : First, knight A goes across with his lady, drops her off, then the knight rows back to the other side. Knight A gets out of the boat and knight B gets into the boat with his lady and then rows to the other side. Knight B drops his lady off, then rows back, exits the boat and knight C enters the boat with his lady. He goes to the otherside, drops his lady off and rows back. All of the ladys are now on the other side. Knight A enters the boat with knight C still in it. They row to the other side and knight A gets out. Knight C then rows back, picks up knight B and brings him to the other side. They are now all on the other side.

    Confusion at the Maternity Ward


    Nurse Melissa is showing a newborn baby to Jessica. They are also discussing an early release from the hospital with Dr. Jones. Dr. Jones is against the early release and advises one more day of medical supervision for the new mom and the baby. However, Jessica leaves the hospital an hour later. How is it possible?
