Jun Liao was a Capellan Confederation noble and father of Wilhemina Liao.

History[edit]

Jun Liao was a member of the Capellan nobility, and a scion of the Capella branch of the family closely related to the ruling branch of House Liao. Jun Liao was well-known throughout the Confederation, but for all the wrong reasons, rising to infamy in 3130 when an investigation uncovered that he had used the family name to defraud the Capella Commonality. Jun's scheme involved traveling world to world and leveraging his Liao family name to demand funds from the Central Commonality Reserves, embezzling billions of yuan from government coffers to fund his lavish degeneracy.

Though Jun remained elusive thanks to his itinerant scheme, his criminal activities eventually caught up to him and he was captured by Confederation police forces, who further revealed his hedonistic excesses and corruption during the many consecutive months of debauchery on board his personal DropShip. After his judgment in the Capellan courts, Jun Liao was publicly executed for his crimes against the Confederation. His cousin Chancellor Daoshen Liao-Centrella mandated that all citizens must watch Jun's execution, to demonstrate that Capellan justice was harsh but fair--not even a member of the Liao family would be exempt from punishment for the crime of enriching themselves at the expense of the state.

While there were no overt reprisals against his daughters as collateral punishment for Jun's failings, it is implied than the shame of his name cast a long shadow upon them and led to some degree of political and social disfavor.[2]
