Planetary History[edit]
Clan Invasion[edit]
Kiamba was conquered in March 3052 by Clan Smoke Jaguar during the Fifth Wave of Operation REVIVAL. Loremaster Edmund Hoyt personally led the Jaguar's Spirit Keshik against the veteran Third Proserpina Hussars. Immediately upon their landing the Smoke Jaguars' OmniMechs were engaged by an armored battalion of the Third Hussars while their DropShips were strafed by Hussar aerospace fighters, resulting in one of the ship being severely damaged before the Jaguar's own air support saw them off. The Clan forces then pursued the retreating tanks into Hecate's Swamp, where the battalion's personnel had mixed kerosene with the murky swamp water and then ignited it, catching two entire Trinaries in the fiery deathtrap. Enraged by the dishonorable tactic, Hoyt ordered a headhunter unit to locate the regiment's command staff and eliminate them. Tai-sa Richard Weston, along with most of his command company, died in the headhunter's attack, forcing the rest of the demoralized Hussars to retreat back to Collins' Ridge for a brave but futile last stand.[42]
Uprising[edit]
According to Mission Kiamba, in mid-3054 the Doom Angels mercenary battalion arrived in the Kiamba system with combat damage and crash landed on the planet. They subsequently pretended to have been hired by the Draconis Combine to support an uprising against the Smoke Jaguar garrison, though in truth only used the chaos from the bloody uprising as a smoke screen to gather repair parts for their DropShip, organize their extraction, and flee the planet.[citation needed]
Clan Wolf Raids[edit]
Following the Refusal War, Clan Wolf sought to prove the Wolves were still a force to be reckoned with. In early 3058, they successfully challenged for Osis genetic legacy.[43][44]
Operation BULLDOG[edit]
Kiamba was invaded in the first wave of Operation BULLDOG by the First Genyosha, the First Kestrel Grenadiers, the Third Drakøns, and the Com Guard Eleventh Division. The defenders, the 362nd Assault Cluster, were overwhelmed by the invading force and lost the planet.[45]

Geography[edit]
Kiamba is covered by huge shallow seas and extensive swamplands. These conditions cause local insects to thrive and obtain unusual and "horrifying" size.[52] It consists of at least one continent, Tortinia.[40][53]
According to an apocryphal source (the German-only novel Mission Kiamba), the planet Kiamba is exceptionally large and hot, with three continents along the equator and extensive polar oceans. Between the continents, numerous island chains of volcanic origin (just like many of the mountain chains on land and beneath the oceans) exist. Most volcanoes are active to some degree, and earthquakes are common. In the temperate coastal regions where human habitation is possible, the economy relies mainly on agriculture and tree cultivation (first and third continent) as well as cattle breeding (second continent).[54]
Continents and subcontinents between 3,000 and 11,000 across from north to south lie along the equator; numerous islands and island chains dot the polar oceans.[55]
The impression given is that of a jungle world, at least on the second continent. The local insect fauna includes the large Nebelwespe ("Mist Wasp") and the finger-sized Kia-Mosquitos. The latter inject a bacterial poison that causes several days of fever.[56]
The capital city of Kiamba (as of 3054) is Kiamba City, with 400,000 inhabitants. It is situated on the north coast of the third continent at the swampy delta region of the Kiamba River. The city sports a spaceport with thirty circular landing recesses and an airfield, a large river port south of the swamps and a blue-water port west of the delta; a power plant is situated south of the river port and the HPG station is located between the power plant and the hovertrain station just south of the starport. The original government palace is situated on the southern boundary of the city, between the river port and the sea port.[57]
