Gibson Federated BattleMechs was the Free Worlds Defense Industries subsidiary responsible for most of the company's ground unit production.

Overview[edit]

Based on Gibson, Gibson Federated BattleMechs was a relative newcomer to the defense industry when it merged with Andurien AeroTech in October 2562 to form Free Worlds Defense Industries. Gibson Federated BattleMechs had run into cash flow problems from producing the WVR-7M Wolverine at a tremendous pace, and the merger gave the company a new source of income. In 3016, the Free Worlds League Parliament licensed Gibson Federated to convert an unused production line to construct the Hermes II, though they would encounter a number of issues such as supply shortages, equipment failures, and general inefficiency.[2]

According to Präludium, a prototype of the Florence AmbulanceMech was unveiled to great fanfare on Gibson in 3029. However, the impression is given that it was a public relations project first and foremost which had served its role with the presentation of the prototype; it appears the Florence never entered regular production.

Apocryphal Content Ends

Gibson Federated BattleMechs was taken over by the Word of Blake forces and used as one of their primary military suppliers.[3] Funding from the Word of Blake allowed them to expand production, opening plants on Terra and Mars. Gibson Federated also formed Sekkaris Mekwerks in 3063 to create prototype designs equipped with weapons the Word had acquired from the Clans and other sources. The Celestial series OmniMechs were designed by Sekkaris, particularly their lead designer Dr. Devon Cortland.[1]
