Exciting Day 3 at ATP Challenger in Bahrain

The Ministry of Interior ATP Challenger tournament brought even more thrills on Day 3, as players continued to battle for their place at the top. The atmosphere at the Public Security Officers Club was electric, with tennis fans treated to a series of exciting, high-energy matches.
The day kicked off with a true test of endurance, as Canada’s Alexis Galarneau fought hard to defeat Kazakhstan’s Denis Yevseyev in a tense three-setter (7-6, 6-7, 6-3). The match went on for over two and a half hours, and both players gave it their all. Over in another corner, Tunisia’s Aziz Dougaz showed his resilience, outlasting Britain’s Charles Broom in a similar marathon (7-5, 3-6, 7-6).
Russia’s Ilya Simakin displayed excellent strategy to beat Japan’s Yasutaka Uchiyama (7-6, 6-4) in a tightly fought contest. Meanwhile, Hungary’s Márton Fucsovics proved just how dominant he can be, cruising past Colombia’s Nicolás Mejía in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) with a commanding performance.
Underdogs Shine
Romania’s Filip Cristian Jianu made an incredible comeback after losing the first set, roaring back to defeat Russia’s Petr Bar Biryukov (6-7, 6-0, 6-3). Similarly, Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong had a narrow win over Georgia’s Aleksandre Bakshi (7-5, 7-5), with both players showing great determination.
In doubles, the American-Dutch duo of Vasil Kirkov and Bart Stevens were on fire, taking down the Colombian-Japanese pairing of Nicolás Mejía and Yasutaka Uchiyama (6-1, 7-6). Their chemistry and strong teamwork were key to their success.
Off the court, tennis legend Janko Tipsarevic, a former ATP World No. 8, paid a visit to the tournament. He met with Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the tournament’s chief supervisor, and praised Bahrain’s world-class facilities. Tipsarevic highlighted how important events like these are to builf the next generation of talent.
