Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant etched his name into NBA history on Tuesday, becoming the eighth player ever to score 30,000 career points. Durant reached the milestone with two clutch free throws in the third quarter of a game against the Memphis Grizzlies at Footprint Center.

A Career Milestone at Lightning Speed

Needing 26 points to crack the prestigious 30,000 mark, Durant didn’t waste any time. He finished the game with 34 points on 12-of-18 shooting, proving once again why he’s regarded as one of the game's greatest. It took Durant just 1,101 games to reach the feat, tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for third-fastest, behind only Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan.

Durant had a quiet first quarter with just two points, but exploded in the second, racking up 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting, setting the stage for his milestone moment.

Suns’ Coach Budenholzer Reflects on Durant’s Legacy

After the achievement, Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer praised Durant, calling him an "amazing" player and “special human.” The Phoenix crowd erupted in applause as Durant was honored for his remarkable accomplishment.

With this achievement, Durant now sits seventh on the all-time scoring list, with Wilt Chamberlain (31,419 points) next in his sights. The top of the leaderboard is led by LeBron James (41,623 points), with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) in second and Karl Malone (36,928) third.

Despite the Suns’ 119-112 loss to Memphis, Durant’s performance was a shining reminder of his consistent excellence and continued place among the league’s all-time greats.
