<p>(<b>A</b>,<b>B</b>) shows the analyses of March and August 2011 (La Niña), where a high concentration can be observed along the mainland coastal zone of the GC. The average Chl <span class="html-italic">a</span> values were up to 6.36 mg/m<sup>3</sup> for March, contrary to August where a clear decrease in the Chl <span class="html-italic">a</span> concentration was observed with values of 0.29 mg/m<sup>3</sup>; (<b>C</b>,<b>D</b>) shows the analyses of March and August 2015 (El Niño) where a decrease in Chl <span class="html-italic">a</span> concentration can be observed for the two months (March and August) along the mainland coastal zone of the GC compared with 2011, which showed average values of Chl <span class="html-italic">a</span> up to 3.42 and 0.20 mg/m<sup>3</sup>, respectively. This general pattern describes the Chl <span class="html-italic">a</span> variability observed in the general climatology of the mainland coast of the GC (<a href="#remotesensing-12-01335-f012" class="html-fig">Figure 12</a>) and the general distribution (<a href="#remotesensing-12-01335-f002" class="html-fig">Figure 2</a>).</p> "> Figure 14
