Beloved Sister and Aunt
Mrs. Katherine M. (Valletta) Aucoin, age 102, of Southbury formerly Waterbury, passed away peacefully with her friend Jane at her side on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at River Glen Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Aucoin.
Born in Waterbury on April 26, 1920, Katherine was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Christine (Salamone) Valletta. She was a graduate of Slocum Grammar School, Crosby High School and earned her Associate Degree from Post College. Early on, she was a retail clerk at Charles A. Templeton, Inc. After college, she began her career working for the City of Waterbury, as Secretary to the Superintendent of the Police for over 30 years until her retirement in 1984. Katherine was a longtime communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church until moving to Woodbury where she was a member of St. Teresa Church. Katherine was also a member of AARP and Royal Neighbors of America.
Katherine is survived by her sister Agnes Mainwaring of Miami, her nephew, Brian Mainwaring and his wife Brenda of Council Bluffs, IA, her caregiver and dear friend, Jane Buitron of Woodbury.
Katherine’s funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 9:30am from Maiorano Funeral Home, Inc., 95 Willow Street, Waterbury to Sts. Peter and Paul Church for a Mass at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit with Katherine’s family on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30am.
