About Me

Thanks so much for stopping by! Why not sit down and grab a cookie so we can get to know each other a little better!

About Me

My name is Fiona and I love to bake. I grew up baking and listening to Blondie in the kitchen with my Mum & three sisters. In fact – one of my earliest memories is getting my hair caught in the electric mixer while making chocolate chip cookies (it didn’t deter me). In high school, I really started trying new recipes and reading cookbooks. And by about 15, I took over the Christmas baking and making my own birthday cake.

I’m Canadian, but in 2019 I moved to Brisbane, Australia with my fiance husband, Jay. Outside of baking and eating tasty treats – I’m obsessed with yoga, spin classes, patrolling the internet for baking inspiration, spending time with my dog and trying to convince my boyfriend  fiance husband Jay to let me listen to teen pop music. I am extremely lucky that Just So Tasty has now become my full-time job.

About Just So Tasty

Just So Tasty is a baking and dessert blog I started in 2015. At first, it was a hobby and a way for me to chronicle my baking adventures after I finished my business degree. Since then it has grown into a community of readers who love chocolate, homemade treats, and becoming better bakers. In October 2017 along with some savings, I took the leap to pursue the blog as my full-time job. I haven’t looked back since.

The site (currently) includes over 400 kitchen-tested recipes with drool-worthy images, kitchen tips, and troubleshooting advice. As a self-taught (and Mum-taught) baker – I know what’s like to wonder why a recipe failed, or what the dough should look like, or why certain steps are important. And on Just So Tasty – I’m committed to sharing all of that pertinent information with you. I test, retest and taste test each recipe multiple times to ensure they’re quality.

You can find recipes from Just So Tasty featured on such sites as countryliving.com, yahoo.com, goodhousekeeping.com, foodgawker.com, buzzfeed.com, and tasty.co. I have been fortunate to work with such organizations as Food Bloggers of Canada, BC Tree Fruits, and Egg Farmers of Canada, and have been a regular contributor for such sites as SoFabFood, Yellow Bliss Road, Real Housemoms, Lil’ Luna, and Oh Sweet Basil.

About My Philosophy on Baking

I love to make things that are delicious (obviously), start with quality ingredients and aren’t too fussy. Typically, I don’t use fancy equipment or ingredients – I have nothing against them, I just don’t keep them around. I think recipes should be easy to read, understand and not screw up. I love anything with chocolate, peanut butter, fresh fruit… the list goes on.

If you’re not sure what recipe to start with, why not try my Double Chocolate Cookies? They’re my first recipe that ever when viral, and is still one of the most popular recipes on Just So Tasty. I also love classic, Canadian treats – like these Nanaimo Bars or Confetti Squares. Or if it’s 10 pm on a Friday night, this Vanilla Mug Cake might just be your thing 😉
