बहिर्गिरि
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[4] ने लेख किया है ...बहिर्गिरि (AS, p.615) का उल्लेख महाभारत, सभापर्व में हुआ है। इस उल्लेख के अनुसार अपनी दिग्विजय यात्रा के प्रसंग में पाण्डव अर्जुन ने 'अंतर्गिरि', 'बहिर्गिरि' और 'उपगिरि' नामक हिमालय के पर्वतीय प्रदेशों को विजित किया था- 'अंतर्गिरि च कौंतेयस्तेथैव च बहिर्गिरिम् तथैवोपगिरि चैव विजिग्वे पुरुषषैभ:।'[5] (देखें उपगिरि, अंतर्गिरि)
बहिर्गिरि हिमालय का बाहरी भाग अथवा निचला तराई वाला क्षेत्र है।
