IBPRO Symposium

INTENSIFYING BIOCATALYTIC PROCESSES

From Enzyme and Material Design to Industrial Applications

26th – 28th March 2025

AARHUS | DENMARK | EUROPE | WORLDWIDE ONLINE

Welcome

We are looking forward to hosting you in IBPRO2025!

The 2nd INTENSIFYING BIOCATALYTIC PROCESSES – From Enzyme and Material Design to Industrial Applications Symposium (IBPRO2025) will be hosted as a hybrid international symposium for academic and industrial biocatalyst enthusiasts by Aarhus University, Denmark, in collaboration with DECADES (HorizonEurope project). The IBPRO2025 symposium will provide talks, podium discussions, poster pitch sessions, and poster presentations, allowing registered participants to present their work in the form of online-posters including live-discussions. Of course, there will be keynote and invited lectures by world leading experts from academia and industry, as well as oral communications selected from abstracts and pitch talks (selected from the poster submissions). All content will be streamed and recorded to allow registered participants to (re)watch the talks (until one week after the symposium). Especially due to the online format, we aim at reaching and including many more colleagues than usual from all over the world to share their most front running research in biocatalysis. With the online mode, apart from the carbon footprint of the symposium, it will be more inclusive and will allow more early stage researchers to join and participate. Facilitating personal interactions in-person and online will be of high importance to us.

It is a great honour and pleasure for us to invite you to participate in this international symposium in an exciting format without borders. Special attention will be given to the interaction between industrial and academic participants and the fostering of networking with researchers at the early stages of their careers. The online tools will allow the exchange between participants online: there will be online poster sessions, the possibility to listen to the Podium Discussion on Industry Careers and the Future of Biocatalysis, and to send messages directly to other participants.

The IBPRO2025 symposium provides a unique chance to bring in the recent advances in biocatalysis research to every location in the world and extend the viewpoint from academia and industry. We expect an exciting program covering the improvement of biocatalytic processes via material optimization (enzymes, solvents, surfaces) and the implementation of cascade reactions (multi-enzymatic or chemo-enzymatic). A list of our speakers can already be found here. The contributions will come from experimentalists as well as theoreticians, from both academia and industry. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the symposium topic, we will welcome high-quality abstracts from any area related to the topic of the symposium, including synthetic and evolutionary biology, genetics, reaction engineering, biomolecular engineering, protein biochemistry, computational chemistry, synthetic (bio)organic chemistry, and process intensification. It is a great pleasure to host the IBPRO2025 symposium in Aarhus, in the world’s happiest city.

We look forward to welcoming you either online or in-person to IBPRO2025!
