FSF Anniversary Logo Contest
The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is a community-supported organization, and we want to pay tribute to this fact by holding a design contest. We would like to source the fortieth anniversary logo design directly from a free software supporter. Everyone is welcome to submit a design (or even multiple designs) no matter your previous experience in design, as long as it adheres to the below requirements.
The winning design will be chosen by the community and ultimately immortalized in the history of the FSF. It will be displayed on the FSF homepage, printed on all of the celebration printed materials, and possibly even stamped on some merchandise.
To enter a design(s) into the contest, please review the requirements and suggestions below.
What we would generally like to see
- The logo should reflect the history of the FSF;
- Relevance to the free software movement;
- Ideally, contains the FSF logo;
- Use eye-catching colors, such as playful and bright colors.
Requirements and license terms
- The logo must be produced using exclusively free software editing tools, such as GIMP, Krita, or Inkscape;
- Any fonts used in the design must be under the SIL Open Font license or another free license;
- All files must be delivered in both .png and .svg.
- Unless absolutely necessary, do not convert text to paths, as it obstructs translating and editing;
- Does not contain text or images that violate the Safe Space Policy.
The final logo will be released under CC BY, attributed to the FSF. The FSF may reach out to the winning designer(s) to adapt the logo for the banner and merchandise.
