messy

ˈmɛsi
WordNet
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, old Flemish lace. The apparently messy, repeating pattern consists of a succession of very narrow S-shaped tendrils with small oval buttons attached to them. Decorative bands, partly forming spirals, curves around the tendrils. The motifs are connected by a braided ground. The very sparingly used solid work is made in net and linen stitch, whereby the openwork edges are about the same width as the solid with which the tendrils are made. One type of decorative soil has been used in the spirals and in the decorative bands are rows of leaves made in molding. The top of the strip is finished straight with a separate knitted band. The underside is finished straight with picots.
