English for FCE 2

XPC-FCE2 FEKT XPC-FCE2 Acad. year 2024/2025 Summer semester 3 credits

The English course focuses on the development of reading, listening, speaking and writing skills with an emphasis on the acquisition of grammatical structures and vocabulary at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It is based on teaching materials and requirements of the international exam First Certificate in English (FCE).  The subject is taught by means of practical language exercises with emphasis on practicing communication skills and developing knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.

Learning objectives

The aim of the course is to develop linguistic competences necessary for fluent and independent use of English for General Purposes at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in everyday working and social situations as a prerequisite for passing the international exam First Certificate in English (FCE). 
The student uses English language as an independent user at B2 CEFR level, lists and describes a number of free time activities and sports disciplines, expresses his/her opinions on the media, especially the internet and electronic media, and their role in society, specifies various environmental problems and explains them in different contexts, is able to discuss different methods and means of interpersonal communication, uses grammatical structures according to the requirements of the given level and course syllabus. 

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Knowledge of English for General Purposes at level B2 CEFR is required.
