On Thursday, 7 November, an award ceremony of Atlas Copco and Edwards Awards took place at Atlas Copco's Sky Club. It was a great success for students of BUT. The Edwards Award rewards theses focusing on technical topics. This year, a total of 37 diploma theses applied for the recognition. Pavel Hřebíček, a FIT BUT graduate, whose Eye Check application caught some attention earlier this year at the Excel@FIT conference, won the second place. The application enables detection of an eye disease leukocoria. "Leukocoria is the whiteness of the pupil that may appear in a photograph taken with a flash. Early detection of this symptom can save the patient's eyesight," explained Pavel Hřebíček, adding that his application works with a 98% accuracy.
