Yippee-ki-yay Hyatt lovers! Starting August 15, Hyatt has two new promotions for the $199 annual fee World of Hyatt Business Credit Card: one for new card members and one for existing cardholders.

If you didn’t already know, the World of Hyatt program is a favorite among travel rewards enthusiasts as you can often get impressive values for redemptions on points as well as luxe perks with elite status. This latest round of promotions has a little something for everyone, offering a big bonus to new applicants and elevated earning rates for existing cardholders. Let’s dig in.

Welcome Bonus for New Applicants

Those who apply for and are approved for the Hyatt Business Card from August 15 through September 26, 2024, could receive a bonus of up to 75,000 bonus points. Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within the first three months from account opening, plus 15,000 bonus points after spending $12,000 in the first six months from account opening. That could translate to a sizable stay when redeeming at a Category 1 hotel during off-peak season or sweet dreams in a premium suite at a luxury Category 8 hotel during peak travel time. Here are some examples of what you might do with that bonanza.

Spend two nights over Thanksgiving week at the boutique Dream Midtown in New York City. It’s just a short subway ride from your hotel to see the famous Thanksgiving Day parade balloons as they get inflated the night before or a 10- to 15-minute walk to see the actual live parade as it wends its way south through the city.

Or, spend three nights leaf-peeping, hiking and enjoying local cider during peak foliage season, making your base for exploration at the Hyatt Place Portland, Maine, in the historic Old Port section of the city.

A 75,000-point bonus will score three nights at this hotel in an oversized room with two queen beds and a pullout couch. That’s more than enough space to take the family forest bathing.

Existing Cardholder Permanent Points Boost

The Chase World of Hyatt Business Credit Card’s adaptive accelerator benefit is one of the top perks of being a cardholder. Hyatt Business Card owners can now earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in your first three months from account opening, plus 15,000 more bonus points after spending $12,000 in the first six months

The issuer is making the adaptive category boost permanent, removing the previous December 31, 2024 expiration date, a welcome feature in an industry that often places limits on earning rewards in elevated spending categories.

The eight categories eligible to earn these bonus points include:

  • Dining
  • Airline tickets purchased directly with the airline
  • Car rental agencies
  • Local transit and commuting
  • Gas stations
  • Internet, cable and phone services
  • Social media and search engine advertising
  • Shipping

How To Maximize the World of Hyatt Program

Booking a Hyatt property with points comes with benefits few other programs offer. Resort fees are waived on reward stays, even for the highest-category properties, which could save you hundreds of dollars depending on the length of the stay.

Category 1 hotels offer standard nights starting at 5,000 points. If you can find off-peak nights, that drops to 3,500 points a night. At the top end, nights at a top-tier Category 8 hotel can easily exceed $1,000. Or you can book a standard night for 45,000 World of Hyatt points. Rates like these make Hyatt one of the most valuable programs in travel rewards.

Be aware that the Hyatt Business Card isn’t the only business card that can help you accumulate World of Hyatt points—the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card transfers to World of Hyatt at a ratio of 1:1.

Bottom Line

New cardmembers can earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within the first three months from account opening, plus 15,000 bonus points after spending $12,000 in the first six months from account opening. Additionally, new and existing cardholders can continue earning 2 points per dollar in their top three eligible spend categories permanently.
