School’s out, new routines are in and credit card issuers are rolling out limited-time deals. This summer is brimming with potential for anyone searching for a new card to add to their wallet. Whether you’re drawn to travel perks, cash back or intro APR offers, there’s a credit card offer tailored to your needs this month.
Citi Strata Premier℠ Card
There’s a fresh welcome bonus on the newly-launched Citi Strata Premier℠ Card, offering qualifying new cardholders a chance to pocket more than $700 in value. You’ll earn 70,000 bonus ThankYou® points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of account opening.
This marks an excellent time to apply for the Strata Premier thanks to its ongoing earning opportunities, too. The card’s bonus categories are ideal for summer vacation and road trips, while extra earnings in restaurants and groceries are in style year-round. Cardholders will earn 10 points per dollar spent on hotels, car rentals and attractions booked on CitiTravel.com, 3 points per dollar on restaurants, supermarkets, gas & EV stations, air travel and other hotel purchases and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.
Once earned, Citi ThankYou points are extremely flexible. Redeem them as cash back or travel booked through Citi or transfer them to partnering travel loyalty programs.
Discover it® Student Cash Back
College students should consider the Discover it® Student Cash Back right now. The card’s welcome bonus might not sound as tantalizing as a big round number. Unlimited Cashback Match™ – Discover will match all the cash back you’ve earned at the end of your first year. There’s no minimum spending or maximum rewards.
This card earns 5% cash back on everyday purchases at different places each quarter like grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations and more, up to the quarterly maximum once activated. Plus, automatically earn unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases. Though its 5% bonus categories change each quarter, from July 1 through September 30, it earns 5% cash back at Walmart and grocery stores (on up to $1,500 in purchases once activated). That’s perfect timing for anyone who needs to stock up on furnishing and supplies for a dorm or apartment as well as school supplies, late-night snacks and basically anything else.
If you’re not a student, the Discover it® Cash Back has a very similar welcome offer and earning structure. Neither card charges an annual fee.
Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card
For a limited time, the welcome offers on six different Delta credit cards are higher than usual, giving you a good reason to look at your options. Of the cards, the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card (Terms apply, see rates & fees) is a popular choice, due to its modest annual fee (waived the first year) balanced with benefits, like free checked bags.
The SkyMiles Gold is currently offering 40,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 in eligible purchases in the first six months of card membership. That’s about 50% higher than the previous offer. We also love that cardholders are eligible for discounts on award flights operated by Delta Air Lines, stretching your SkyMiles further.
Wyndham Rewards Earner® Plus Card
The current welcome offer on the Wyndham Rewards Earner® Plus Card* is an impressive one: Earn 100,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first six months of account opening, resort fees may apply. Wyndham Guest Rewards uses a simple award chart with three pricing tiers: 7,500, 15,000 or 30,000 points. That means your bonus would cover the full cost of three nights at top-tier properties (and up to 13 nights at lower-priced hotels).
While the bonus likely won’t be posted to your account in time for summer vacation, cardholders can immediately take advantage of booking discounts and PLATINUM status benefits when staying with Wyndham.
In addition to the points bonus, new cardholders can also take advantage of an introductory APR offer. There’s a 0% intro APR for 6 billing cycles on all Wyndham Timeshare purchases and 0% intro APR for 15 billing cycles for balance transfers completed within 45 days of account opening. A 20.99% – 29.99% variable APR on purchases and balance transfers applies thereafter.
Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card
Qatar Airways introduced U.S. credit cards for the first time this spring, each with a two-tiered welcome offer. The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card* earns 25,000 bonus Avios after the first transaction and an additional 25,000 bonus Avios plus 150 Qpoints after spending $5,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of account opening.
Though that bonus might look a little stingy for a premium card—the annual fee is $499—new cardholders also receive an automatic upgrade to Gold status for the first year of card membership. That extends privileges including complimentary seat selection, priority check-in, extra baggage allowances and airport lounge access. And since Qatar Airways is part of the Oneworld airline alliance, Gold members also get access to Admirals Clubs when flying American Airlines.
If the annual fee is too steep for you, you could consider the $99 per year Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature* which has a welcome offer of 20,000 bonus Avios after the first transaction and an additional 20,000 bonus Avios after spending $3,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of account opening. Unfortunately, this credit card doesn’t have the same elite status benefits.
Bottom Line
Credit card offers come and go and this month there are some tremendous card options available. In addition to these, there are also some long-standing credit card bonuses on other beloved cards that might pique your interest. Regardless of which card you choose, scoring one of these offers can set you on a path toward valuable rewards this summer.
