    Pattern Notes

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Each square on the chart depicts 1 single crochet stitch. Read the chart as follows: Odd-number rows, read and change colors from right to left; even-number rows, read and change colors from left to right.

Change color in the last step of the single crochet before the color change.

For easier stitching, work chart with small skeins (or bobbins) of each color. Do not cut or finish off colors until work with each color is complete.

When changing color, carry color not in use on wrong side to bring it across and/or up to the next row/stitch where it will be used. For large areas of the same color, it is best to attach small balls of yarn (of the changing color) on each side of the large area instead of working over the color. For example: Attach a separate ball of dolly on each side of baby turtle shell.
