About this ebook

This book is a combination of translation and interpretation. The translation of the words of the Quran and the translation of the interpretation come as one sentence with a common, complete meaning, so that it is easier to read and easier to understand.

Direct approximate translation of the words of the Quran is presented in plain text, and the entire interpretation is in brackets.

Allah Almighty sent down to people His Book - the Quran, as guidance, distinction, light and mercy. The Quran was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who explained to his companions (Allah be pleased with them) the meaning of His verses. Subsequently, these explanations were passed on to the next generations. This is how the science of interpreting the Quran - tafsir - arose.

By reading only a direct translation of the words of the Quran, it is impossible to correctly understand the meaning of many verses, therefore the text of the Quran and its interpretation must be linked. At an early stage of learning the Quran, it is better to use simple and short commentaries so that the main meaning of the Book of Allah can be easily mastered. This book is an attempt towards this goal.

    Introduction

It should not be considered that the meaning set forth here is exhaustive. For a deeper understanding of the meaning of the Quran, it is necessary to turn to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the classical interpretations in Arabic.

The translations and interpretations which form the basis of this book:

    1. Saheeh International

    2. Abridged Explanation of the Quran

    3. Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali & Muhammad Muhsin Khan

    4. Abu Adel

    5. Taiseer-ul-Rahman

Allah bless all the above scholars who have translated and interpreted the Quran. Allah have mercy on them.

I ask Allah to make this effort sincere, seeking His Pleasure, and I ask Him to grant us refuge in Him from the evils within us, and in our actions. I ask him to grant us success in doing what pleases Him; He is close and responsive (to the prayers of His faithful servants).

    Surah Baqarah (Continued)

    142. Fools [foolish or stupid people] from (the unbelieving pagans, hypocrites, and Jews) among the people (Muslims should not pay attention to foolish people who make foolish arguments to object to the commands of Allah) will say (mocking): "What averted [made them turn] them [believers] from the qibla [prayer direction] on which they were (which they used to face before the direction in prayer became the Mosque al-Haram in Makkah)?" (In the beginning, the believers prayed in the direction of the Bait-ul-Maqdis that is in Jerusalem which is in the north) Say (to them) (O Prophet): "To Allah belongs both the east and the west [everything in any direction is subject to Allah, and there is no such direction that would come out of His dominion and authority], He [Allah] leads whom He wills (from among His servants) to the straight path [gives understanding of His legal position]!"

    143. And also [just as We changed the direction of the qibla] We have made you (O believers – the true Muslims – the real believers of Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah) a nation of the middle [most just, most honored, and best] (between negligence to religion and Allah’s commands such as the Christians, and extremism to Allah’s commands such as the Jews. A balanced community of Muslims.), so that you (on the Day of Judgment) will be witnesses regarding the people [witnesses against former communities that their messengers brought to them the messages of their Lord] and that the (last) Messenger be a witness concerning you (that he brought to you a clear message from Allah). And We made the qibla on which you [the Messenger] was (before) [the direction towards Jerusalem], only in order (that) We would know [test and show] who will follow the Messenger [submit to him and accept from him a new direction in prayer] from those who turned over on his heels (turned back) [to distinguish from those who again became unbelievers due to doubt]. And this is difficult [difficult to agree with a change in prayer direction], except for those whom Allah guided (on the right path) [to whom He gave knowledge and assisted]: and Allah is (not at all) such as to waste (destroy) your faith [Allah will not make in vain those prayers that were made in the direction of Jerusalem before the change of Qibla]! Indeed, Allah is Compassionate (and) Ever-Merciful to people! (Allah is more merciful to His slaves than a mother who lost her child and later finds it. Will this mother willingly throw her child into the fire? Allah is more merciful and compassionate to His slaves than this mother.)
