About this ebook

The purpose for this book is to do a brief study showing the correlation between the Feasts of Israel and the Ancient Hebrew or Jewish Marriage. The feasts were instituted by God for Israel to be a perpetual religious ritual throughout their generations. The significance of them was unquestionably fulfilled in the ministry of Jesus Christ but is seldom taught.

The Bible speaks much about marriage; God and His bride, Israel and then Jesus and His bride, the Church. Unless we understand marriage as it was in the days when the Bible was written, we miss the vital purpose of this analogy. The Bible does speak of this as a mystery which obviously invites exploration and understanding.

    PREFACE

    Whenever End times are discussed there is a tendency by some to give up on life but God never intends this type of fatalistic attitude.  Rather, God encourages us to continue with the chores and duties of life but to be aware of His coming. Here are some of His exhortations;

    ⁴³ Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.  Luke 12:43 (ESV)

    ⁴⁰ Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. ⁴¹ Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. ⁴² Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.                                 Matt 24:40-42 (ESV)

    ³² But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. ³³ Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. Mark 13:32-33

    So, although we are to continue with the duties of life, God made a solemn promise that He would do nothing without first warning us through His servants the prophets.

    ⁷ "For the Lord

    God

    does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7

    The true prophets today are no different from the ones of the Old Testament.  They were ordinary people chosen by God, anointed with the Holy Spirit to be basically watchmen.  Many of them were disliked and even persecuted because the word of God is rarely sugar coated.

    ¹⁷ "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. Ezek 3:17 (ESV)

    Some believe a word of prophecy can only come from people whom are extremely educated and qualified but this can be far from the truth.  Some of the Old Testament prophets were mere shepherds such as David and Amos.  In the New Testament God used fishermen such as Peter and John.  In fact, some of the most qualified exponents of the Torah at the time of Jesus’ first coming rejected their Messiah and actually persecuted Him and his followers.  These included the High Priests at the time, Annas and Caiaphas as well as Saul, before he was renamed Paul the apostle.  Saul was the prized protégé of Gamaliel, who was the doyen Rabbi in Jewish Law of the Pharisaic sect.  Educated yes, but anointed of the Holy Spirit, no.

    Right at this time in history God is awakening ordinary but faithful people and revealing things that were once hidden and sealed.  Despite every man’s struggle with his carnality, God reveals these mysteries through the power of His Holy Spirit to those who seek and heed Him.

    ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: ¹⁸ And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:                       Acts 2:17-18 (KJV)

    The writing of this book began in late 2019, then the Coronavirus Pandemic broke out.  The author inquired whether this was just a temporary situation or was this the beginning of something far worse.  This was the answer received;

    ¹² A third part of you shall die of pestilence and be consumed with famine in your midst; a third part

    shall fall by the sword all around you; and a third part I will scatter to all the winds and will unsheathe the sword after them.                   Ezek 5:12 (ESV)

    This of course was a prophecy against Jerusalem because of their continual wickedness.

    1

    However, as will be discussed, all future prophecy is usually based on previous occurrences.

    Never the less the strong conviction is, that the fulfilment for many of these end time prophecies is upon us. Here is a scripture that shares a similar context to Ezek 5:12 but is for our time;

    ¹⁵ So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind. ¹⁶ The number of mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand; I heard their number.                   Rev 9:15-16 (ESV)

    Introduction

    ³⁰ For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. ³¹ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. ³² This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Eph 5:30-32 (KJV)

    Although there will be the physical bodily return of Jesus Christ, this study endeavours to show the likelihood that Jesus will come for His bride, the true Church in what is commonly called the Rapture.  It is proposed that this event will occur before, what the Bible describes and calls, the Great Tribulation. This statement will cause much debate.  There are many views as to the timing of this event, each with passionate and convicted adherents. The purpose of this book is to show how the Jewish Feasts and early Jewish marriages are prophetic types
