About this audiobook

"The Virgin River books are so compelling—I connected instantly with the characters and just wanted more and more and more." —#1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber

Welcome back to Virgin River with the book that inspired the hit Netflix series…

Wanted: Midwife/nurse practitioner in Virgin River, population six hundred. Make a difference against a backdrop of towering California redwoods and crystal clear rivers. Rent-free cabin included.

When the recently widowed Melinda Monroe sees this ad, she quickly decides that the remote mountain town of Virgin River might be the perfect place to escape her heartache and to reenergize the nursing career she loves. But her high hopes are dashed within an hour of arriving—the cabin is a dump, the roads are treacherous and the local doctor wants nothing to do with her. Realizing she's made a huge mistake, Mel decides to leave town the following morning.

But a tiny baby abandoned on a front porch changes her plans…and former marine Jack Sheridan cements them into place.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a mix of repetitive plotlines and technical issues with the audio narration. However, the book itself is great, with an engaging story and likable characters. Some readers prefer reading it on Kindle rather than listening to the audio version. Overall, it is an amazing book with fantastic narration."

I never write reviews but this has to be the exeption. I was so disappointed.
This is the first time in my life that I liked the story more in the cinematic version, than in the book. I expected somehow this book to be sweet and innocent, yet I was bombarded with the thoughts of most of the charachters, that I was NOT curious at áll about. I mean, I understand that for example, Jack was attracted to Mel, but listening to this book, I only heard how he wanted to go to bed with her... I was not expecting this. In the Netflix series Jack is so excited just to get to know Mel, but in the book he is just sexually attracted to her and we have to listen to his less than proper thoughts about the woman.
I may be a prude, but I prefer clean romances to these overly sexual contents, so I was not sorry to leave this audiobook unfinished.

This book and probably the next 2 were good, but after that they were all the same thing and got a bit ridiculous.
A beautiful woman from a divorce, bad relationship or whose husband passed away comes into VR. All the guys are military men and know each other, not married and all screwed around. One falls head over heals for her, but has a hard time "picking her up". Everybody else can see his lust for her and pushes him on. They get together, married, and have kids, and build a house in VR. Then it happens again in the next book and again and again. It gets ridiculous because its the same thing with the guys being oh so gentle and it's all about her and they are always protected with condoms and the pill and both adults have been checked for STDs. And don't forget the morning after pill or Plan B when the condom breaks. I got to chapter 8 in Tempation Ridge and deleted from my list. I just couldn't take it any more.

There were some funny parts in all the books, but from the start of book 1, they were all so predictable and it got worse and worse through each one. Finally when I got to Tempation Ridge it took all I could to not poke my eyeballs out.
I havent seen the TV series, but hope it isn't so repetitive.

GREAT BOOK… but the narration cuts out randomly and will skip entire paragraphs. I ended up buying the book on kindle and reading it.
