About this audiobook

What’s the one thing you shouldn’t do when your boss is your ruthless evil widowed stepmother who hates your guts more than anyone?

Kiss the man she’s interested in.

So what does Kaitlynn Judge find herself doing?

Yep, she kisses the one man her stepmother currently wants, who also happens to be the CEO of the company where she works.

Can we say doomed?

After the death of her father, Kaitlynn's life has been stuck in a rut. But that begins to change after meeting a dashing stranger during the office Halloween party. Now she has to navigate vengeful stepmothers, meddling stepsiblings, and gorgeous guys in hot pursuit to reach her happily ever after.

While making a detour from the fantasy aspect, this contemporary take on the Cinderella story continues to cling to a few of our favorite traditions. You’ll still find the unmerited oppression along with fleeing women, missing shoes, mouse companions, magic wands, pumpkin-like rides to the big bash, and so much more. So rest assured, it’s all familiar and yet quirkily different.

Editor's Note

New Adult Fairy Tale...

Kage’s take on fairy tales continues in “Kissing the Boss,” a New Adult riff on Cinderella. Instead of a prince, however, the heroine’s interest lands on the CEO of the company she works for, and also the guy her stepmother wants. Kage’s lively characters and banter breathe new life into the traditional story.

18 mins in and I cannot go on, the FL has no back bone smarts or witt, it's like a middle school girl in her fantasies putting her name with her crushes on paper. Is competent at her job but seems like a high pitch ditz. I'll finish ch1 just for the heck of it but honestly nearly unbearable. I'm sure it gets better bc of all the good reviews but if I can't get past the 1st ch then is it worth it? It starts to be less stupid after ch5. She's like a helpless Cinderella that wants to save mice when she can't save herself. It certainly makes one remember the nativity of one's childhood self maybe that's why I think she's so stupid.

How does this book have soo many ratings. It really bad writing. They made the FL soo gullible that it was painful to enjoy this book. The story is very cliché, it just not that good. I would not recommend this book. The narrator’s voice does not help either

I feel just like any book there are parts you love and others you’re like get to the point… Overall I think it was a great book and I will definitely read more from this author. It was quirky and FUNNY! Enjoyable light hearted read.

Stay to listen to the authors note. Definitely made me love the book and them more.

Kaitlyn was unbearably passive. Everything just happened to her and she was too nice to do anything about it. Worst of all, in the end she did need not one, not two, but three men to save her. I know that the fairy tale of Cinderella isn't any better, but I hoped for more with the updated version.

Wow, I can't believe I actually finished this book, I should get a reward ?. I don't even know where to start.
Was this supposed to be a comedy ?, because it was not. It was cringy most of the time. Why did the narrator decided to make her voice so intolerable. I kept on thinking, no wonder the world thinks Americans are dumb and stupid, this book just keeps on feeding that stereotype ?‍♀️
So main characters are very childish, seriously, someone that finished college can't be this childish. Characters were introduced and I felt that they added nothing to the story, scenes that added nothing to the story.
Gosh so many things. Yeah, wish that the app could have a button to hide author and narrator from my future searches ?‍♀️

Take a shot every time the word cringe gets said, the book felt very hasty and didn’t feel complete, wished there was more backstory to the stepmother and her dad’s relationship, it would’ve made more sense.

I’m not sure why the narrator found the need to make her voice so unbearably squeaky when reading spoken parts. I thought others who mentioned it were exaggerating, but I definitely struggled to get through it. I really like the first book and want to finish the series, but this one almost made me quit. Hopefully the next two are better.

I really liked the story, but I wish the author would not use the *F word for love moments. A little too much of vulgar words during the sexy parts, kind of lost the romance for me. using a more romantic language would have made this book a 5 *

I enjoyed this one. Sweet Katelyn tries so hard to be kind but has an evil stepmother who won't even pay her to work at the company her parents started. Her two stepbrothers were terrific. I liked the way Ezra and Katelyn's relationship developed.

I’m half way through just because I’m a sap. But if I weren’t the screechy adolescent whine of the main characters voice would have made me up ship after one chapter. It’s also dragging out each interaction. Maybe I’ll finish it. Not sure

Well I’ve tried to finish…. She’s just to cringe.

Its a very interesting take on the cinderella story, but both main romance interrests act like annoying teenagers even tho they are adults, and its very infuriating to listen to.
If you are into the teen drama tropes you might like this.

Excellent book. I wish the narrator had made of different voice choice for Kaitlyn. Her high-pitched squeaky voice made me cringe and made her sound like an insecure child. However, the story itself was cute, sweet and a little spicy .

I almost stopped listening to this one because the narrator was awful! The female main character was read in a squeaky whiney voice most of the time. Had to force myself to stay engaged in the story. Every time I heard the character I was cringing, thinking why can't this character have a real voice without all of the high pitched squeaking? Grrr. I liked the tension in the story and the twists and turns. I would have given 4 stars except for the narration. My rating stands at only two stars.
