He was commissioned into the King's Own Scottish Borderers and ended the war as a liaison officer for the Arab Desert Legion.After the war, he served as a Colonial policeman in Northern Rhodesia before returning to the United Kingdom and a career in the legal profession.He was interested in many subjects, ranging from archaeology to heraldry and calligraphy to history.view less
