hello everyone I'm unsure what words to use to express my gratitude for everyone's comments on the previous question, but thank you. I was considering adding another question because I get many responses to this forum. Do you believe that opening a position on days when you feel down is a bad idea?
When you have negative emotions, chances of earning money is ZERO. So go do anything other than trading. Some people use sledge hammer to smash the computer. Then depression will change into impression right away. Of course, we can do other things beside smashing computer.
Hi, Maxinger. how you doing? Do you think I should close the other opened trades, I made earlier? No I am not that kind of person. No hammer Maybe I kill my boyfriend instead. Lol
Emotional state should have no impact on your decision making. However, if it does, then you should work on fixing that.
It’s a bad idea to trade when you’re not CCFF Confident, Carefree, Fearless and Focused. We say bullshit in / bullshit out. If something’s toxic behind your mouse then you can be sure it will have an impact on your clicks. When I am sick, tired or fuzzy then I skip the day and come back only when I can’t blame anything else but me for my losses. You either sink or swim: Get weights off ! You can’t make no excuses: A loss is a loss ! “Yeah it’s a bad day but you know … (Excuse #92173)” Would you like to get on board of a plane with a pilot that’s not CCFF ? That dude’s fckin’ depressed, feels like he’s about to crash that plane ! Give this guy a paper plane ! Seriously, if you’re not at your best then you certainly have more important / urgent things to do than to gamble with your money. Wish you a quick recovery. PS: in sport betting you get paid more when you have an handicap because it lowers your chance of winning. Which isn’t the case in real life … a handicap makes things more difficult but you ain’t rewarded for it. … Trading is a competitive game, Think about yourself as being a team of runners and each session you’re passing the baton to your future self. First principle is Do no harm and if you feel like you’re going to underperfom then stay on the bench. Tired of myself. I am out.
When you have depression (horrific negative emotion), most likely your other opened trades are making a very huge loss. I'd flatten the position. Then smash the computer / smash someone (with a rubber hammer) / go exercise ..... Then come back to trade when the emotion is neutral.
Markets will always be here. Take time off. Knowing when to take time off is a lost art. Practice often.
depression is for human. maybe if you use quant/automated trading, you can have less concern for depression.
