Shared description

Elder Park

Elder Park was a gift to the people of Govan by Isabella Elder in memory of her husband John Elder, who with Charles Randolph, established the Fairfield’s Shipyard in 1864. The new park was laid out on 35 acres of Fairfield Farm, designed by John Honeyman. It was opened on 27 June 1885 by Lord Roseberry.

Elderpark Library was a gift to Govan from Isabella Elder which was opened by Andrew Carnegie in 1903.
