British Geological Survey Core Store becomes ALDI
A low, landmark building on Gilmerton Road, with its blue nameplate, which was presumably used to store geological sample cores for reference, examination and study. It appears on Google Earth imagery in 2005, but now [March 2014] is in the process of demolition. An earlier decision to relocate the store to the National Geological Repository at Keyworth was confirmed in 2010 Link and the transfer was completed in October 2012.
Following demolition of the core store buildings the site was cleared and an ALDI store built on the site and opened in February 2015.
