An excellent novel by Nevil Shute, but also a pleasant pastime with the children on a sunny late-November Sunday morning. Burntisland is on the opposite shore of the Firth of Forth.
NT2077 : Cramond : Coastal Scenery Inchkeith with a long lens. Beautifully captures the phenomonon of refraction with light bent by changing speed as it passes through layers of air at different densities. (Light only travels at “the speed of light “ , 300,000 kph, in a vacuum). Sometimes islands can be seen "floating" due to this phenomenon.
