Geograph - photograph every grid square

According to the book " A history of Horringer and Ickworth" by Zoe Ward, the house Mordaboys is named after blacksmith William Mordebois who was in Ickworth around 1600. Or possibly it comes from the old Suffolk word "a mort" meaning "a lot", and a possible use of the house as a school for boys. I like the theory in the caption to the picture TL8163 : Ickworth Park better.

In the same book it states that Capability Brown was employed in 1782 to design a new house, not the gardens. The Earl of Bristol was not happy with the design and employed someone else to create a new design.
