SK2366 : The Long Gallery

taken 14 years ago, near to Alport, Derbyshire, England

The Long Gallery
The Long Gallery
Mainly constructed around 1570 as a family lounge and for gentle indoor promenading. It was also used for more formal occasions such as balls. The windows provide fine views over the garden and surrounding countryside. The fine carved oak panelling has many boar's head (Vernon family) and peacock (Manners family) carvings.
