This clifftop view is from about the midpoint of the Cliffs of Moher, looking north-east. The limestone slabs, quarried locally, form an excellent fence, preventing cattle from falling over the edge.

Limestone slabs are quarried here, just below the cliff-top at the Cliffs of Moher. The rock formation, laid down over 300 million years ago, results in successive regular layers which can be chiselled out as flagstones, or slabs.
