Unlike much heather moorland locally, this one does not appear to be managed for grouse shooting, with the result that the heather is very deep and incredibly difficult to walk through. View of the Cheviot Hills in the distance.

About 340m north of Bigges' Pillar, just outside the forest boundary, this large and much disturbed pile of stones shares an interesting name but seems to be absent from any speculation in the archaeological literature.
