A rugged stretch of the North Down coast overlooking Belfast Lough. Known as the Gold Coast because of the large number of expensive houses, with cars to match, which have evolved in this highly desirable area over the decades.
The North Down Coastal Path near Craigavad. The no-nonsense fencing to the left is not, despite appearances, the perimeter of a p.o.w. camp, merely the boundary of the Royal Belfast Golf Club, the oldest in Ireland and founded in 1881.
The coastal path here follows the roadway on Station Road (it is possible to walk on the shoreline at low tide as well). This is the view towards Cultra.
One of the narrowest parts of the North Down coastal path as it passes the boundary wall of Royal Belfast Golf Club. Belfast Lough is just out of picture to the left.
