The Black Swan and Gascoigne Arms pubs in the centre of Barwick in Elmet. Between them is the 86ft high maypole, which dwarfs the stone war memorial beside it.

Now just a ruin. There is a datum line and part of a benchmark arrowhead cut into a long horizontal stone on this gable end. It is unlikely that this mark will remain intact for much longer.
