Robert Huth: Leicester Must Re-Sign 'Fantastic' Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi
Former Leicester defender Robert Huth admits he is worried about the prospect of Wilfred Ndidi joining another club.
The midfielder is no longer a Foxes player after his contract expired on June 30, with Leicester and Ndidi unable to agree terms on a new deal.
Currently a free agent, the Nigeria international is now free to speak to other clubs and he could be playing his football elsewhere next term.
Foxes Must Pull Out Stops To Keep Ndidi
In an exclusive chat with Gambling.com, Huth says he hopes Leicester can still persuade Ndidi to stay put.
“I love Wilf, I think he’s a fantastic player. He came in as a young kid when I was in my last two years at Leicester and I’ve seen him develop into what I would call a proper midfielder. Box to box, really talented. He kind of links the attack to the defence, he’s so important for us,” Huth said.
“I would definitely re-sign him because he’s still only 27, he knows the club and he’s played in the Premier League before.
“Again it’s going to be a cost thing - but how much is it going to be to replace him? He’s valuable not only on the pitch, but also a fantastic character off it. He fits in. He’s one of those bubbly guys that mingles with everyone. I think he’s so important to have in the club.
“Hopefully, Leicester can get something done with him, but money talks at the end of the day. If there’s something better on the table for Wilf then fair play to him and we wish him all the best. But at the moment there’s still hope. ”

Decordova-Reid Perfect Fit For Foxes
Leicester are the 1/2 favourites for relegation with football betting sites following their promotion back to the Premier League last season.
Steve Cooper, the new manager at the King Power Stadium, made his first Leicester signing in the form of Bobby Decordova-Reid on a free transfer from Fulham on the first weekend of July.
And Huth, who won the title with the Foxes in 2015-16, believes the former Cottagers star is a smart addition to the Leicester squad.
“Yes, for sure. He’s a tricky, direct winger. It’s a position that we need to strengthen, so he’s going to fit straight in,” Huth added.
“He's got the experience, he’s played in the Premier League. No doubt it’s going to be one of those signings where you need the pace, you need the experience and he fits right in.”
Golding Needs To Hit Ground Running
Leicester have also completed the signing of Michael Golding, who joined from Chelsea for £5m. In a separate deal, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall went in the other direction for a fee of £30m, reuniting with former Leicester boss Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.
Golding is only 18 years old and made just one senior appearance for Chelsea last season.
But Huth believes Leicester, who are likely to be battling against the drop in 2024-25, will need Golding to make an impact quickly.
“I always think sport is about right now. It’s all well and good trying to plan for the next few years but I think when you sign a player, you want them to play and make an impact straight away,” Huth said.
“I know he’s young, and you need to develop players for sure, but for us (Leicester) when the season starts we need to get points on the board. We need all the players to make an impact with that.
”When I look at clubs signing players they need to fit in straight away. That’s the name of the game. You need points on the board, not just players in the squad. So he needs to step up."
