GambleAware is a UK Gambling Commission approved organisation for the receipt of financial contributions to support research, prevention and treatment of gambling-related harms.

Who we are, and what we do

GambleAware is the leading independent charity and strategic commissioner of gambling harm education, prevention, early intervention, and treatment across Great Britain. We work in collaboration with the NHS, local and national government, gambling treatment providers, as well as other mental health services, to provide:
•    The National Gambling Support Network (NGSN)
•    Advice, tools and support (through the NGSN and our website)
•    Research into effective gambling prevention measures
•    National campaigns to raise awareness of the availability of services or to break down stigma associated with gambling harms

Donating to GambleAware

Operators holding a UK gambling licence must make an annual financial contribution to support gambling research, prevention and treatment (RET) to one or more approved organisations (Gambling Commission LCCP 3.1.1.2). GambleAware is an approved organisation that carries out all three of the required workstreams (research, prevention and treatment). We share our annual RET contribution records with the Gambling Commission to enable reporting against this condition of licence.

GambleAware is at the forefront of commissioning the National Gambling Support Network, working with the NHS and others, to direct people to the right advice, tools and support. However, research suggests that less than 3% of those who experience harm are accessing appropriate services. Clearly there is more that can be done to raise awareness of gambling harms as a public health issue, develop effective prevention and treatment services and reduce the stigma associated with gambling harms.

How to Donate

To donate to GambleAware please complete a Donation Form.
This will help to match your payment to the records we hold and the licence records held by the Gambling Commission.
For advice please read our donations FAQs or contact fundraising@gambleaware.org

Donations Acceptance and Refusal Policy

GambleAware operates wholly independently in pursuit of a vision where everyone is safe from gambling harms. We cannot accept donations which could compromise our independence. Please refer to our Donations Acceptance & Refusal Policy

Donor Interaction Protocol

Interaction with donors is a necessary element of our work to raise funds and awareness around the prevention of gambling harms. All interactions with licenced gambling operators and organisations connected with the gambling industry are governed by a strict Donor Interaction Protocol to ensure that fundraising activity has no bearing on commissioning decisions.
