Aww how fun! I love the idea of traveling via book...π¬ π look forward to hearing about all of your reading adventures, Margaret! π
What an exciting and creative idea, Margaret! An excellent way to expand your taste and knowledge pallet, while experiencing the world through books. They should give out special passport stamps for something like this! Happy Bookish Travels!
This sounds like such a fun idea. To tour the world in books and to learn about faraway places. What a nice challenge.
If you're looking for books in faraway places, the book I read today is set on an island off the coast of Wales. I love this idea, Margaret!

Itβs an outstanding start to your world tour journey through reading, Margaret! I look forward to hearing what books you read. My favourite is Ireland- Seek the Fair Land by Walter Macken. My momβs side is Irish, so this would be a great start to learning more about Irish history.

Margaret I think that your π world tour of reading authors from different countries is a brilliant idea. I'll be looking forward to reading more of your professionally well written reviews.
I look forward to your world tour of books, Margaret! I usually find something to read through your selections as an armchair traveller with you...so I am looking forward to it! π
Oh a book worldtour is such an amazing idea! Are you reading based on where the book is based or where the author is from? I could maybe recommend something from my country if youΒ΄d like. I donΒ΄t see it on the list yet :)

That would be fabulous. The books will be set in as many different countries as I can find. It can be history through the ages, a single historical event or time period, a cultural book, an invention or key person in history. So would love any recommendations - you know your country best. Thanks Leonie ππ

So I am from Germany (I donΒ΄t remember if I ever told you). Since you said you wanted more of a historical route, if you want to read more about WW2, I would recommend the classics like "Anne Franks diary" or "The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas". It even got turned into a movie. There is also "The Book Thief", the story of a young girl living in Nazi Germany. Then "All the Light we Cannot see" takes place half in France, half in Germany. It won the Goodreads choice award in 2014.
If you want to change it up a bit, one of my favorite school reads back then was "Krabat", itΒ΄s a kind of fantasy book set in the 17th century Germany. It also got turned into a movie. I donΒ΄t know if there is an english version though.
I hope you will find something that is to your liking and good luck on your challenge!!

Thank you so much for doing that Leonie. I will be reading the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, and some others I have read. That is the challenge because some of the most iconic books from each country I have already read so now finding alternatives. I wanted a German book that didn't involve the war, so a great find was the story of Rudolf Diesel and the 'Woman behind the Wheel'.
PS. Yes I knew you were from Germany but your English is so good you couldn't tell from that. I'm Irish and I remind people all the time πππ
