I managed to finish this story, but I skimmed the last 20% heavily. I’ve read all of Cherise Sinclair’s bdsm club books and loved them. Unfortunately, this book wasn’t as good as Sinclair’s. The FMC is too traumatized for me to root for her in a relationship. She needs extensive counseling and more before she should even consider a relationship, especially BDSM.
I didn’t feel any type of emotional connection between any of the characters, not even the supposed lifetime friendships.
This also wasn’t anywhere near as spicy as I would have hoped. Maybe two full sex scenes and nothing really that kinky…though it’s understandable because FMC was too traumatized.
There was also never a point in the book where FMC begins to trust MMC completely. She never tells him all her history. She never lets her walls down completely. It’s like, she was lying to him and he found out, they have sex, and then she was hurt. The end.
The story was a bit of a let down if I’m honest....more

Jett Powers is engaged to FMC’s disgusting mother. He treats FMC like a worthless fucktoy he can keep on the side. The way it was written was less hot and more sad/desperate. I have no desire to read anything more about this story. Raven deserves better than this. I’d also be pretty happy if someone pushed the evil mother off a cliff. ...more

This book was a bit weird, but I pretty much liked it anyways. I think the weirdness comes from the way it was written. It’s written in first person but it gave me a lot of third person vibes.
How does this happen you ask?? I have no idea, that’s why it was weird.
- Fantasy RH (with historical vibes) - Super Patriarchal world (women-folk get punished by men via spankings, canings, & floggings…this includes brothers spanking sisters. It’s routine and expected) - Forced mating - Omegaverse - 4 Alpha male mates - No MM, No OW - triggers: forced mating, forced heat, dub-con, spanking and whipping females for (non pleasure) punishments… women aren’t really allowed to voice opinions or ask questions so they get punished frequently
If you have any triggers about domestic violence, sexual assault, or men taking any and everything from women without consent, maybe skip this book.
It’s not that these mates are cruel or bad, it’s the expected norm in this society.
I admit I had some trouble reading this book. As someone who was treated this way in real life, reading about it as a fantasy romance messes me up a bit....more

Nova and her guys are back in this second book in the series. They're still dealing with her evil, serial-killing, necrophiliac, deranged "father." They are following the clues and learning that this isn't a single-person operation; it spans realms and could lead to the death of magic itself.
I still love Nova, but she has lost some of her "badassness" from book one. She acts more immature in this book and does need saving several times. It feels like some of her chutzpah is missing here.

In this book we have Ravyn, a dark witch who serves Lucifer. Her family, including her twin sister, was murdered by an evil pack of wolves (shifters). Ravyn is furious, so she sells her soul to The Dark Lord in order to get revenge on the people who killed her family. Ravyn pretends to be her light witch twin and heads to the Evermore Academy to get her revenge.
The world building in this story was pretty cool, it’s well thought out and interesting. The characters are pretty fun too, we get to see a bunch of people from classic fairytales (Aladdin, Aurora, Alice, etc etc). Only the FMC is a fully fleshed out character though. Nobody else has any real character development.
So far this series isn’t a reverse harem though. The FMC does have sex with several people, but most of them are just casually fucking. There aren’t any real relationships. It could be said that she has some sort of relationship with her family’s Knight protector, but that was pre established and it felt more like mutual gratification.
Here is my real problem with this book: the FMC is an extreme masochist. I mean, I can read regular books with D/s relationships. I can tolerate some masochism…but this book takes it too far and it makes me feel really sick.
The FMC’s lover takes a knife to her back and cuts DEEP, all the way past muscle and into the areas that would kill a human. Not little cuts. He carves her up. Her other ‘lover’ beats her with a metal whip until she’s a bloody lump (then he cums on her wounds). I understand that the FMC enjoys this, but it’s too grotesque and it goes too far. None of these men care about her well being and most don’t even like her, that just makes it worse.
This is in no way, shape, or form a romance. Maybe it turns into one? I don’t see how though.
- steam: 0/5 stars I don’t call this steamy, this is something different. 3-5 “sex” scenes (more like torture scenes) - world building 3/5 - Harem: no harem yet - relationships: 0/5 stars - No MM/FF - triggers: ALL THE TRIGGERS!! Death of family, blood, knife play, sex scenes that look like torture…all the triggers - No OW drama (because there is mo harem or prospective harem) - Bully? Eh, not really. There are bullies, but there is no harem yet, so it doesn’t really matter. I don’t see any of the people who are bullying her becoming romantically involved, but you never know....more

This is a super hot erotica, barbarian style, captive ‘romance’. If you can get over the continued rape, then this is an awesome book. I’m just not into non-con or dub-con. Yes, she finds pleasure in their touch... It doesn’t make it any less rape. ...more

Series rating: 3 mediocre, don’t ever reread, stars
Well….the series is finished and I’m still torn. There wasn’t anything that happened in this book that was a surprise. I knew what I was expecting to happen before I started this book and that’s exactly what DID happen. So, this isn’t a ground breakingly original story. I’m actually pretty sure I’ve read the same premise before - several times. That being said, it was pretty good. Not good enough to ever read again though.
The author was able to turn Black into an acceptable male, so that is something. I still don’t like Gemma. Her weak and stupid character doesn’t fit the supposed cunningly intelligent, powerful lawyer, and business woman she is supposed to be.
Also, I feel like splitting this story into a 3 part series was a bit ridiculous. Each book was less than 200 pages. I think this last one was only like 144 pages. Making three tiny books instead of one longer book feels like a money grab or a ploy. Idk, that’s just me, but it’s annoying.
**Mild Spoilers**
Sadly, I didn’t find any satisfaction in the ending. Honestly, I didn’t want them to start popping out babies left and right! Gemma was supposed to be infertile! And there is no way a pregnancy would have survived the torture she was put through. Gemma was literally punched in the stomach more times than I can recall. It’s just not realistic that she didn’t miscarry.
The ending and epilogue didn’t feel like it fit with these characters either. The biggest disappointment I have with any book (ending) is when the characters don’t stay true to themselves. If they turn into completely different people in the epilogue it feels like the author is shitting on the story. That’s what it felt like here. I didn’t like it.
If you want to read a similar series that is infinitely better than this one try the Ruthless People series by J.J. Mcavoy. I cannot even tell you how amazing that series is. I reread that story so many times and never get tired of it! ...more

I liked this book a lot more than the last one. However, I’m still undecided about Black. How can he constantly be so hot and cold for no reason?
Black treats Gemma like garbage half the time, f**ks her and then ignores her the rest of the time. I would have left him and ran if I were her. She isn’t doing anything to make him earn love or forgiveness either. Basically, Gemma is stupid and Black is an a**hole.

The premise of this story is interesting. However, I don’t like Black. I read a lot of dark romance and there are authors, namely Pepper Winters, who are able to create a bad anti hero who still has redeeming qualities… who you still root for. This author failed in that respect. I don’t particularly care for Black and I’m pretty sure I’m not rooting for him. The only thing he is good for is sex.
Also, I’m not sold on Gemma either. She is supposed to be a ruthless lawyer with a shark reputation. Im not seeing anything like that from her at all. She could be Anna from 50 Shades. That is not a compliment.
I like the story premise, I think I’ll read the next book to see if it gets any better. I can’t guarantee I’ll finish the series. I can’t, in good conscience, recommend this series to anyone yet. ...more

Sadly, the author wasn’t able to take advantage of that potential..,this was a mediocre story. Here is a brief synopsis....and I want you to know that there is absolutely nothing even remotely surprising in this book. I’ve read better versions of this same story several times. So here it is, synopsis: sex, sex, sex, 2 pages of feelings, betrayal, HEA. That’s how the story goes.
I felt nothing for these characters, they were very boring really. Each character felt one dimensional... and that one dimension is sex. This book is only good if you’re wanting to read hot sex scenes. I can’t deny that those scenes are steamy but unfortunately, I want more feelings in my books. If you’re looking for REALLY good books that are erotica and involve sex clubs (AND A PLOT/STORY) then read anything by Cherise Sinclair. There isn’t an author that does it better.
All in all this was a mediocre book that has been written (better) before.
P.S. One last complaint...the hero of this story turns into someone completely different in the epilogue. He literally didn’t even resemble the same person in the slightest. H goes from suave sex crazed dominant alpha to a frumpy pussy whipped homebody who wants to sit on the couch. Not hot. That’s like if Christian Grey had turned into Homer Simpson after getting the girl. No, just no. ...more

I’m not happy with this book. It’s not a good feeling to start hoping the female MC commits suicide if only the torment would end. I want to note that I enjoy dark romance, captive, dark stuff that is much darker than this book....but this was so much worse.
It would be better to be held in a cellar and tortured or sold as a sex slave than what happened here. Everyone she loved and trusted abandoned her and turned their backs on her while she was experiencing the torture. The were also plot issues that didn’t make sense. It was never explained why the H came back hating the FMC; he called her poison...that doesn’t fit with the story line at all.
Also, I would like to point out, I knew how the story was going to unfold within the first few chapters. I knew who the bad boy was going to be and what he was going to do. It was a pretty basic story to guess.
