«This world of ours…are they the ones who truly rule over it?»
« This is a fine ship. Cut off from the rest of the world. This is a world solely for us ».
« We are not savages. Even if a life exists simply to die, they’ll be treated to the best of our ability up until the point of death. Now, even if the likes of you were keenly aware of what was going on, it would be fruitless… »
« Your life shall be long. Full of curiosity. And power. You belong to us now ».
noah of the blood sea had absolutely everything to be an unforgettable manga – beautiful artwork and style, very interesting vampire lore, appealing fictional story... until this last volume. rushed, nonsense and extremely bad isn't enough to describe my disappointment. how can a brilliant idea become a disaster so suddenly? hell, no.
And my fears were right. The story was wrapped up in a super fast way and I understood nothing. There were so many scenes all of a sudden thrown all together and boom, the end. And the ending is pure genius. The problem is there's no explanation at all of anything so I was left with the biggest question mark printed on my forehead and I will have it forever.
I kinda guessed a few things but again, no explanation so am I actually right? It's not my story, so I'm not the one who's supposed to tell this. A maybe spin-off(?) was much needed to have a few history, past or whatever of why everything started like THIS and ended like THIS.
I'm super disappointed because the art is super gory and I loved it, and the story seemed so interesting, but in the end it felt super rushed and especially unfinished.

A luxurious pleasure cruise attracts the attention of families looking to get away on a nice summer vacation on the sea. The ship is glamorous, the food is delightful and the servants are unnaturally beautiful. As guests begin to go missing at an alarming rate, the facade of a peaceful getaway is quickly shattered as blood begins to flow. The ship is being run by inhuman monsters disguised as humans. They have a thirst for blood, a hunger for flesh, an appetite for cruelty and an urge to dominate lesser beings. Stranded in the middle of the sea with nowhere to run and horrifying predators lurking around every corner, the odds are stacked against the poor powerless guests.
This series starts off with a simple yet horrifying premise. Imagine being stranded on a ship with cannibalistic sadists with vampiric powers, the only way out is to jump off the ship and die an even slower death than being killed by these bloodthirsty monsters. The horror is great and there's some awesomely grotesque art that resembles extreme horror movies from the 80's. It's what I imagine a manga created by Richard Laymon would look like.
While the manga starts off great, it really dives off the deep end (no pun intended) in its second half. It goes from being a terrifying paranormal slasher to being... I'm not sure how to describe it. It felt like it suddenly introduced 200 chapters worth of complex concepts that came out of nowhere and tried to cram it into a measly 12 or so chapters. It was extremely rushed, confusing and I didn't understand it all. Unfortunately, this led to an unsatisfying and anticlimactic ending that made no sense.
I enjoyed the first half and I really liked the Victorian horror setting which isn't too common in manga, but the second half and the ending make it hard to recommend.

The final volume feels rushed. The authors introduce some new mechanics that needed a better explanation. I can't really tell what happened to Eve, what the deal is with some sort of hallucination that the sailors and some of the vampires are under, how the Kaiser's monsters came to be, why Kakeru is better than everyone, how come Shane's dolls can be revived, what other weaknesses the vampires have. All of these were worth more exposition. Still, it's a good effort.
Before I start I must say that this manga series is probably the most gorgeous addition to my shelf. The cover art is absolutely beautiful.

I’m currently doing an internship at my local manga shop and asked for some manga recommendations from the chef. He quickly recommended me this series so I bought all five mangas in the course of two days.

I might actually have slightly mixed feelings on this. For me it felt like the manga had a lot of key points but those were just loosely thrown around and nothing really came out in the end. The ending was quite confusing, I was sitting there looking at the page like: “That’s the end?? Is there maybe a sixth book I oversaw?” There isn’t a sixth manga to this series btw. So the end sort of leaves everything open, no conclusion is drawn and I’m just really curious what happens to the characters on that last page. Are they dead? Knocked out? Will the one last vampire left stay alive? (Apart from the non dangerous ones) oh well. But even with all this complaining I still have to say that there were plenty of good things about this series as well. I like the dark twist at the beginning with no one realising people are getting killed on stage, then comes the dinner with everyone being watched and more… I loved the horror. And the art!!! The art!!! Holy smokes! The art made the books sooo much better. Noah’s eyes staring into your soul from a piece of paper, ushiro’s head chopped off… Everything was just so surreal. Even if the series wasn’t perfect I loved it either way.

Who would I recommend this book to? (Even though I wish to gate-keep it)
-my fellow horror lovers. must have stronger nerves for this one. -those who are all in for vampire stories. -people who appreciate it when mangas have good art.

Goofy ahh ending but I grew quite attached to this manga. The art style was gorgeous and intentional in its linework. The character designs were often appealing.
Upon reading through this manga a second time, I'd noticed it didn't have that much of a grotesque horror feeling as strongly as I'd remembered. In my opinion, only the very beginning had a sickening and gruesome moment. Most other moments of horror were extremely tolerable, as a highly squeamish person.
More moments with Shane would've been appreciated greatly. He's cute. LMAO.
I loved the premise of a cruise ship horror story. Shame the ending was nonsensical.
La situazione in qualche modo si risolve. Scopriamo sottotrame e abbiamo accesso a spiegazioni.
No la recomendaría: leeros The promised Neverland 🙂↕️🫶🏼
really enjoyed this series, but the ending was just so rushed and confusing? feel like it could’ve benefitted from an additional volume so things could play out a bit slower.
