I was gifted this book for my birthday, and overall I have to say I really enjoyed it! I love Cameron's style, and her tips were spot-on. Her style is similar to mine, so I loved seeing her outfits for inspiration. I also made notes with some of her hair/skin/health tips. The photography in this book is fun and gorgeous. I feel for the purpose of "staying stylish", it definitely is useful.

It lost a couple stars for me because the short section on faith was so superficial, it made me cringe a little. Cameron talks about her own relationship with Jesus and encourages her readers to develop their "relationship with God". She also includes this line:

"We will all spend eternity somewhere, and I want to spend it with the Lord, Jesus Christ. That is why I prioritize time for my relationship with Jesus through Bible study, church, and prayer."

That's as close as it gets to a gospel presentation. The problem is, that is not even close to the gospel.

I'm going to give her the benefit of a doubt and assume she was trying to encourage people to just read the Bible with the hope that they would come to a knowledge of the truth. But there is no gospel presentation here, and I have a problem with Christians encouraging non-Christians to work on their "relationship with God" without explaining the gospel.

The problem with this is that reading your Bible, praying, and going to church won't save you. We humans have no basis to approach God on our own. We have no right or ability to have a relationship with Him - not until we recognize that we are sinners, and without Christ's sacrifice, our only posture for approaching God is out of fear, because we deserve His judgement and death and Hell. Jesus came to die in our place, and rose again to save us from all that. We can't have a relationship with Him until we understand who we truly are without Christ, how unworthy we are and how unable to even approach God, and place our trust in Christ alone to save us. All our "praying" and "Bible reading" is a mere pile of filthy rags to God until we turn to Jesus in repentance and faith. Cameron's brief touch on faith missed all that. It is actually quite unkind to imply to someone that they can have a relationship with God without clearly explaining the gospel. They'll think they are fine when they're not.

That was my main concern with this book, but for the stated purpose of the book, it was fine. I just almost wish Cameron didn't include a section on her faith if she wasn't going to be clear. That's my take.

Candace Cameron Bure gives readers a peek into how she goes about purchasing clothes, organizing her closet and the tricks and tips to putting it all together. She discusses picking out clothes for casual, dressy, Red Carpet events and travel. The thing she says is to “Be true to you”…“Fashion isn’t about anyone else. It’s about yourself – what you feel beautiful wearing and what makes you most comfortable, which leads to confidence.”

I like how she goes through each item of clothing and talks about things to think about before purchasing them. I also like her helpful tips, for example, “Tip. “Fill your closet with timeless basics that work well with each other. Make sure they are high quality and versatile enough to transition from casual to dressy and from day to night.”

She then talks about how to dress up a casual outfit, and her favorite places to find basic items of clothing she lists stores she likes and favorite brands. I appreciated her mentioning where to spend money and where to save it on certain items for your wardrobe. She shows you how to polish off an outfit and talks about how simplicity is a rule to guide you.

She goes over these items of clothing; T-Shirts, Blouses, bottoms and dresses, pants, shirts – White Dress, The A-line dress – Denim, Skinny Jeans, Distress, Chopped Jeans, How to bring new life to old jeans, jump suits and jackets and so much more.

The second part of this book shows what Candace does for Skin Care, Makeup and Hair Care. She goes over her Morning and night routine and how to tips for the ultimate polish make-up tips, along with being brave with your hair.

The author says, ..”living a healthy life is the first step to appearing strong, beautiful, and happy.”

She talks about feel “good” foods, eating well to make you feel energized on the inside that will have you look good on the outside. She mentions healthy snacks she likes, and gives a list for her favorites. She also talks about staying strong by exercising with weights and stretching.

And finally, she talks about nourishing your spirit through prayer, journaling, reading fiction and non-fiction books and she has tips for managing stress.

I enjoyed these tips and all the wonderful pictures inside to help get her point across about style, make up and exercise. This is a beautiful hard back book with a ribbon (to help mark your place). It’s a good reference book and one that would make a great gift too.

So excited to share Candace's new book with you all.

This book was done with so much class and is chock full of so many tips. I learned a lot of great tips and tricks one that has stuck out to me is the one where she tells those of us that don't like to drink water how to improve it by adding essential oils to the water. I plan to do this.

I love that she has a section in this book called Nourishing Your Spirit. She tells us that we are going to spend eternity somewhere and she wants to spend it with Jesus Christ. She is not shy in sharing that God is the most important part of her life.

Candace is one of very few people in Hollywood that shares he love for Jesus every chance that she gets.

She talks about Prayer, writing in a journal, and my absolute favorite reading. She shares a list of her favorite Non-fiction and fiction books. Oh what lists they are. I happen to agree with her on a few on them.

She says she makes sure that she invests time with God.

I feel like this is book that all of us ladies need to spend time in and go back to again and again.

This is a 5 star two times book. I HIGHLY recommend it.

This was a fun read learning tips about everything from clothes to makeup, hair, and spending time with God. Her style is definitely more out there than I’m going for, but there were some fun nuggets along the way. My favorite part was the end section on nourishing your Spirit- mentally, spiritually, physically “To give your all, you have to HAVE your all.” Healthy living will make benefit me in SO many ways! ❤️

Who didn't watch Full House growing up? I know on Friday nights, I looked forward to the TGIF shows on TV and would snuggle up on the couch with my mom and sing at the top of my lungs, "Whatever happened to predictability.....". I loved tuning in every Friday night, mostly cause I had a crush on Uncle Jessie, but also, because I thought DJ Tanner was the coolest and often wondered what it would be like to have her for a big sister or a friend. Now, I'm all grown up with two kids of my own and I get to read her amazing accomplishments, most recently, Staying Stylish. It is currently the center piece of my coffee table where it will continue to be for me, and others, to look through on a daily basis. She gives absolutely amazing advice in this book.

Now, I am not a skinny woman. Not by a long shot, but reading through this book, Candace gives great style and healthy living advice in a way that makes me feel included. She incorporates her faith and love of God into her pages. Now a days, in the type of world we live in, we find people who all to often hide their faith and religion for fear of being judged or frowned upon. But not Ms. Bure. She lets it shine and it really makes this coffee table book the perfect addition for my family.

I am definitely pleased that I got this book. It is definitely full of 5 star worthy tips and suggestions. After closing the book, I sat there reflecting on her words and thinking about the things she said that I could do to make myself more stylish without really changing who I am as a person. I definitely recommend this book to all! Ms. Bure will capture your heart and you'll want to share this book with everyone in your life. I can't wait to get more of her books with fantabulous tips inside! Bravo, Ms. Bure. Bravo!

I have many good memories of watching "Full House" with my brother growing up. If you didn't know, the author of this book, Candace Cameron Bure, starred as DJ Tanner in "Full House." I was even more thrilled to find out Ms. Bure is a Christian and pretty outspoken about her faith. We need more of that, especially in Hollywood.

"Staying Stylish: Cultivating a Confident Look, Style and Attitude" by Candace Cameron Bure is a non-fiction book written as a type of manual. The main topics it covers are style/fashion, health and faith. The book itself is a beautiful hardback book with a ribbon bookmark to mark your place. I really love all of the pictures to illustrate the different things covered in the book.

Ms. Bure writes in a down-to-earth manner. Her tips and tricks are very practical and ones a normal person can implement. I found myself recently consulting the book on the best way to wear a skirt. What I love most is that Ms. Bure doesn't just talk about beauty and style, but also how important it is to take care of oneself physically, mentally and spiritually. She talks about prayer, journaling and having a quiet time. Lastly, she stresses that you should be true to yourself!

Content: This is a clean read. The only problem I can see one having is that people have different convictions on modesty and some Christians may not be comfortable with some of her outfits.

Rating: I give this book 5 stars!

Genre: Christian; Non-fiction

I want to thank Candace Cameron Bure, Zondervan and Book Look Bloggers for the complimentary copy of this book for review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I express in this review are my own. This is in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s CFR 16, Part 255.

This book was good, but not anything groundbreaking. I’m interested in it because I’m the same age as CCB and grew up watching her on “Full House”. I listened to the audio narrated by Candace herself.

She tells many stories about her own personal evolution of style and how she became more confident with fashion. She gives suggestions of brands that she likes and they’re not all crazy expensive. But honestly, this book is passable.

Thanks to San Diego County Library for the digital audio version via OverDrive.

I kind of knew this wasn't going to be the book for me, but I was interested in the spiritual argument for feminine presentation. She made a pretty weak argument in that area, not even broaching the topic until the final part of the book. Overall, it felt like a rich woman who has been far removed from a budget lifestyle trying to tell other women that their lives would be much improved if they just spent more money on their appearance. That might be the right way to express oneself for other women, but not for me.

I have read a couple of Candace's books in the past and was curious to see what she would do with a style book. I have to say, I was more than impressed with Staying Stylish! As a former full-time fashion stylist (who still does freelance work) I would definitely recommend this book to any woman looking to "up" her style game! Candace shares practical tips, favorite brands, and great photos providing a lot of style inspiration!

I've read other celebrity fashion and style books in the past and while they can be entertaining, often the tips aren't practical and the fashion isn't affordable for us non-celebrities. Candace's style is attainable for my lifestyle and budget and you feel more like you're getting tips from a friend than a celebrity.

The first section of the book deals with fashion and style - covering everything from what to buy and how to wear it, to closet organization and packing tips. Other sections cover beauty, hair, health and fitness and some general lifestyle tips.

As I said, this book definitely exceeded my expectations and while I was sent this book from the publisher to review, I would have definitely bought this on my own. If you're looking to add a style book to your collection, this is a great one!

I feel like I've grown up watching Candace Cameron Bure on TV, and I have always respected how she responds to criticism. I love her desire to follow Christ and love people in spite of harsh comments and judgments. While offering on point style tips, Staying Stylish also focuses on self-care.

Bure gives us a glimpse into her closet by offering advice on staple pieces of clothing to own, how to pair jewelry and shoes, and keeping closets organized. She also shows an inside look at her skincare and makeup routine. Alongside the practical tips, there are plenty of photos to show us examples.

I feel like Christian circles have only recently started discussing the importance of self-care, so I'm proud Candace has used her voice to speak out about this important aspect of our lives. She shares her go-to ways to keep yourself healthy, and not only by nutrition and fitness but also by keeping yourself sane by doing things that help you stay recharged. We cannot expect to care for other people when we ourselves are running on empty.

This celebrity author covers personal information on how she relates to fashion and style. She covers fashion basics: Tops, Bottoms, Dresses, Shoes, Outerwear, and Accessories. She has chapters on skin care and makeup, hair care, eating well and staying fit, as well as closet storage, organization , travel tips and, importantly, a chapter on Nourishing Your Spirit She talks about her faith – Church/Bible Study, being grateful and giving back to others, prayer and reading. She includes a list of fiction and nonfiction suggestions and includes such classics as John Bunyan’s The Pilgrims Progress. There are lots of cute perky photos throughout to illustrate the text.

Candace Cameron Bure’s book, Staying Stylish: Cultivating a Confident Look, Style and Attitude, inspires and motivates women to be the best version of themselves. She gives lots of great tips on wardrobe and closet organization, makeup, food, exercise and spiritual life including time spent reading the Bible, prayer, journaling and reading other good books. “Cultivate who you already are by filling your soul with goodness spiritually, nutritionally, and physically, and allow yourself to be pliable so that you ultimately grow into the person God made you to be. A soft and loving heart, a gentle smile, compassionate eyes, and a listening ear will always outshine anything you wear.”

Candace Cameron Bure is a very fashionable actress in a down to earth way. I think she dresses more like we would everyday than most celebrities I have seen photos of. Because of that, this book was more relate-able than I expected. I do wish this was more made like a magazine, with pictures and pricing of the items she was listing.
It got to a point where there was constantly some form of repetition. When she was writing this, when it was being edited or when she was reading this to record, you think someone would have said "didn't she just say that exact line?"
I am proud of her for having faith and finding God, but was surprised on how much emphasis she put into it. I can respect other's beliefs, but there can be a point where it becomes a bit pushy.
I appreciated the broad spectrum of things she covered in this book, from things such as God to a face regimen. No matter what the list, she would always seem to include high end products and usually mention drug store options as well.
I will always see her as 'DJ' from Full House, so it is always a throwback to my childhood while reading her books or watching her movies, even if she is an adult now.

Well this was a fun read! I think Candace gives some great little tips in this book. She talks about clothing, skin care, makeup, and self-care, including exercise, healthy eating, and spirituality. If you are like me and have different points of view on spirituality you can either just skip the small part she has on Christianity or read it and apply it to your own views. I’m even considering purchasing this because I liked it so much. I’ll say 4.5 Stars.

My friends know that I jokingly refer to Candace Cameron Bure as my style icon, so obviously I had to read a book of hers that was on her personal style. The thing is, I don’t really know who would actually buy books like this!! I’m not a big coffee table book, but maybe that would what this is? I don’t even know. It’s kind of a novelty book. A one-and-done book. I read it in under 2 hours and flipped through pictures like it was magazine. Mostly, since I already follow her, I’d already read most of this stuff on her social media somewhere. So nothing was really knew.
Although I did find it nice and helpful that she didn’t only talk about expensive high end brands. She always mentioned her favorite affordable brands as well.
But I guess it was fun.
All in all, borrow don’t buy.

I wanted to love this because I adore Candace Cameron Bure as an actress and I do love her devotion to faith. However, I couldn't get past the "vacuous" parts (like her favorite designers and clothing brands...none of which many of her fans would ever be able to afford) to see the depth. Rats! I was really hoping to enjoy this more.

I honestly don’t have high expectations when reading Candace’s books but I still really like her and want to hear what she has to say. I know she’s probably not actually writing most of her books and the messages aren’t ground-breaking but I still usually gain some wisdom from her. This book was beautifully designed and had a lot of gorgeous photos. I actually read it all in one afternoon and will probably go back through the book when I need some travel tips or workout ideas. I debated giving this a 5 Star Review but this book actually made me really happy so I felt it deserved a high rating from me. 💜

This is my book for 2021 about; a book by an online personality.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I enjoy all 3 of her previous books as well, I like her writing style and her stories. I especially enjoyed reading the section on Self-Care: Nourishing your spirit. She gave her favorite books (definitely going to add them to must read) and her list of what you can do while spending time on your own. Next book to read by Candace, Kind is the new classy.

a quick, light read

This is a fun little book! I appreciate that the author looks at beauty holistically: something involving the whole person (mind, body, and spirit), not just one’s outward appearance. I pulled some good product tips from the pages (she almost always has budget-friendly recommendations) and was reminded of some style ideas that had fallen to the side of my daily routine.

I wanted to like this more. There are 2 big problems:

1. It is unrelatable. Most of us will never need a red-carpet-ready style tutorial. Many of the brands or buys she recommends are beyond most people. Even the chapter on frequent travelling reads as out of touch. Which brings me to my second point.

2. I get that this is her personal style and personal set of routines. But for a book like this to not only be relatable but at all practical or useful to anyone else, it has to go beyond her personal choices. Imagine if Marie Kondo said "This is how I personally organise my closet, but don't worry, there are many ways to do this for every budget and closet!" And then moved on to the next chapter. Unless the personal story is generalised as a rule and applied to other contexts, the usefulness of her personal choices is severely limited.

It just felt that there was very little of substance. Nice pictures, a few interesting tips, but nothing new and nothing that went beyond the surface. Which is a pity, because there are few Christian women in hollywood, and this book could have been far more effective.

"Cultivate who you already are by filling your soul with goodness spiritually, nutritionally, and physically, and allow yourself to be pliable so that you can ultimately grow into the person God made you to be."
Perhaps there aren't many tips or tricks in here that are earth-shatteringly original (the self-care section was particularly basic), but I enjoyed how genuine Bure's voice is. You really can tell she is speaking from the heart about what personal style means to her. It's refreshing to see someone in the spotlight who is fit acknowledge the amount of work and self-control it takes to be that way. None of that "I stay slim chasing around my kids!" nonsense here. I also appreciated how well-rounded her approach to presenting oneself to the world is--physical, mental, and spiritual. I thought Staying Stylish was quick, fun, and motivational without being pushy.
