Janine Serrano Hi, Ruta!! Thank you so, so much for accepting my friend request!! Words can't express how happy I am that you did! It's a dream come true!

I absolutely adore your books -- especially Between Shades of Gray! I can't stop obsessing over the characters! The story was so beautifully written and so moving that I teared up (quite a lot) while reading it. You're such an incredibly talented author, and I admire your work so much!! Thank you again! Have a lovely day! :)

God bless,

Thank you for replying! It really means a lot to me when authors communicate with their readers. :) As soon as I've drafted some pictures, I'll be sure to get them to you! I'm so glad you had the opportunity to visit Tucson, and hope you come again in the future. God bless!

Ruta Sepetys Hello Bernadette! It was so lovely to meet you. Yes, I loved Arizona.
Thank you for the offer of sketches. Wow! The best way to send them to me would be to send me a message through the "Contact" page on my website www.rutasepetys.com and I will reply and give you an address. Thank you!! Ruta

Bernadette Lamb Thank you so much for accepting my friend request! It was such a privilege to meet you this past weekend at the Tucson Festival of Books and hear more about your books and passion for untold history. (I'm the wannabe illustrator who will be traveling to Poland on a Catholic pilgrimage this summer.) I hope you enjoyed your time in Arizona, and can't wait to sit down and sketch scenes from Between Shades of Gray! What would be the best way for me to send them to you?

God bless,
Bernadette

P.S. I just discovered the BSoG movie in progress on IMDb! If you're inclined to say, how do you think it's coming along?

message 23: by Aimen

Aimen Thank you so much for accepting my friend request! Like many, I have just read Between the Shades of Gray and loved it obviously. I would have never thought I'd been interested in the Soviet Union/Lithuanian history and the NKVD. It wasn't just the book that fascinated me, it was your video. I watched how this story came to be and you were so passionate in your video, even about writing (you love revising just as much as you love writing, adorable!) The background to how the story came about was so captivating, like wow. Thank you so much for this book and releasing a great story to the world.
I hope you release more books out soon; you made so many people cry.

P.S. Hope you do some meet in greets (Philadelphia, please!)
Is there a movie on Between the Shades of Gray, if so when?!

message 22: by carly

carly I just want to let you know that your book, Between Shades of Gray, has gotten me back into reading again. For a period of about two years I stopped reading and now that I have read your book... it has really inspired me. Not only to read more (which I already have started reading all the time!) but I too am a writer and it gave me inspiration to keep writing and to finally start trying to finish my novel... it really made me want to write something with meaning and importance.

Also, the lessons in your book have given me a lot of insight on many different things not only on the particular genocide but all genocides in general. Thank you! This is my new favorite book and I've already let my good friend borrow it so she too could be inspired and learn :)

Chelsey I just finished Between Shades of Gray and the story seemed so real. While I was reading the story I became so Attached to the characters that when one of the characters died I felt the pain of the people that cared about that person. This story changed my perspective on how our community isn't that bad. I can't wait to read another one of your books.
