The NYPD is looking for a suspect who fatally stabbed a man in Bushwick on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, at 3:39 p.m. on Jan. 23, officers from the 83rd Precinct responded to a call regarding an assault at 1123 Halsey St. Upon their arrival, police found the victim, 24-year-old Shaliek Smith, with a stab wound to his chest.
Smith was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police did not immediately provide a description of the suspect, and no arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.
So far this year, crime is up more than 19% the 83rd Precinct, according to the latest NYPD statistics, though murder and felony assault are both down.
