About the Bed Bugs Handbook

The Bed Bugs Handbook started at the beginning of the current bed bugs epidemic to help homeowners and renters cope with this problem. At the time it was difficult to find information that could serve as a guide to prevent, identify or kill bed bugs. To solve the problem, we have set out to collect the best information available on bed bugs; from their biology and lifecycle, through what to do if you are trying to treat an infestation.

We are a New York based company, so we frequently hear about bed bugs problems in hotels, schools and particularly in public apartment buildings. 

We've received hundreds of reader questions, which are answered and published throughout the site. Each question helps us improve the answers and bed bug information provided.

We started with the basics, which in our mind was what to do if you think you have bed bugs. To answer this simple question, we suggest reviewing the following sections of the site:

Bed bugs are a growing problem around the world.  Reports of infestations are up double digits year to year.  While some blame the banning of the pesticide DDT, the problem is even more complex as bed bugs had started to develop a resistance to this one pesticide that was universally used to kill them years ago.
