Wonderful! Georgeous! We love it! The nature surrounding beaches and the friendly people from Bahia made our trip unforgettable!
Dont miss tuesdays of blessing..a mass that mixes Catholicism and Candomble...at the church of Nossa Senhora dos Rosarios dos Pretos (the blue one in largo do Pelorinho, you cant miss it!!) 6pm every Tuesday. An experience you can only have in Bahia
Nice place. Insteresting tour at the historic city. Many locations to spent the day at the beach, where you can have drinks, seafoods and other specialties for the Bahiana Cuisinie. Also, you can rent a car and visit Arraial d'Ajuda, Cabralia (where is a market to do some shopping), and St Andres. Also maritime tours are available to the reefs.
Salvador is a nice city, but I found it too cleanless with lot of risky guys in the streets. All time they're asking for coins and if you don't give them, they get aggressive. Food from bahianas in the street is the best I ate in my life, don't leave Salvador before triying it.
We loved Itaparica Island (aratuba beach) and Pelourinho area. Itaparica (aratuba beach) is really quiet, just sand and sea, few people, great. Pelourinho is the opposite, it is lively from early in the morning up to 21:30. You can see and listen batucadas right in the streets, capoeira practices, the Bahia ballet (highly recommendable) and the Museo de gastronomia bahiana (impecable, totally worth it). The narrow streets are full of colourful bars, stores and people. You can buy a lot of souvenirs there. The rest of salvador is also enjoyable. All along the coast you have a lot of beaches, one better than the other. We moved around using public transport. From the airport we took the executive service to Praça da se, then we took the boat to Itaparica and finally a van to get to our first Posada. Within the city if Salvador you plenty of buses to choose, you just have to ask a policeman or if you find it easy, try with portuguese or spanish to any person at the bus stop. Enjoy!
Salvador is a phenomenal place, with this energy that is hard to describe. The people are open and friendly (especially compared to Sao Paulo, though loved it there too!) and know how to have a great time. Carnival in Salvador is absolutely crazy in the best way possible! Certainly not for the faint of heart, but for those who enjoy massive street parties, this is by far the largest and most fantastic of them all! The local Bahian cuisine is delicious, especially moqueca! Go for the culture, the people, the sights, the beauty, the music, Salvador has everything. I know a lot of potential visitors are worried about crime, to which I say just stay vigilant and observe some basic caution and you'll be just fine :) One thing for foreigners, though: learn some Portuguese! I happen to speak it, but there aren't really any English speakers in Salvador beyond some hotel receptionists and unless if you have a guide you'll have a hard time communicating. But just try! Brazilians are very enthusiastic (and patient) when you try to speak their language
Beautiful city, full of color. The old town is just splendid. The famous clip "All about it" of MJ was run in Salvador Bahia, it was amazing to see the street where the king of pop was. Nice people. I want to Moro de São Paulo beautiful island at 2h from Salvador.
I'm not a resort guy. But Vila das Pedras hits that sweet spot between resort and bed and breakfast. Good for families, perfect for couples. The beach, which is RIGHT OUTSIDE, is gorgeous. However, Vila das Pedras (Manor of the Stones), is named right: the ocean floor is quite rocky; running drunk into the ocean at night is not advised. But the water is clean and calm and like one big sandbar; you can swim out pretty far and still touch bottom. Rooms are lovely, with pleasant muted colors. Breakfast and Bahian dinner, both included, are excellent. The pool is lovely, and you may see monkeys in the trees above. All in all, it's paradise.
I have been visiting Salvador de Bahia for 20 years. It is an enchanted City rich with culture and history including phenomenal, neighborhoods, food, and music. The people are heart centered and beautiful. I never tire of it. the only thing comparable in the USA might be New Orleans.
Santo André is a very tiny village with several restaurants but only one I found to be halfway decent which was at the very upscale Campo Bahia which was built for the German football team to stay before the last World Cup and is now a resort. The restaurant is quite beautiful as are the grounds but stick to seafood as the meat was very tough. Prices were very reasonable, I found. The rest of the restaurants in town not worth a visit imho. ( I’m a chef so am a bit critical) Make sure you have a rental car and take a little road trip up to Praia de Guaiú and spend the day at the beachfront Restaurante Maria Nilza for delicious traditional Bahian food especially the Moqueca and pastéis de camarão or siri. They close at 4 due to the rising tide which cuts off access to the road so get there early and enjoy.
There wasn’t anything to fault with the Aram Yami hotel. The staff are absolutely incredible - attentive, informative and knowledgeable. The morning breakfast was superb - thank you to the kitchen staff who were always smiling! We chose the Bahia Suite which was perfect. Super large, comfortable bed with soft pillows, great A/C, separate shower and toilet and a wonderful view out to the pool. The pool area had stunning views across the bay. Complimentary drink and fruits on arrival. Wish we had more time here. Next time!
After a catastrophic discover of the 5* Fiesta Bahia Hotel, it was a great pleasure to find a real good 4* hotel, which does not pretend to be the best, but who is doing the work totally fine. Hotel is new, 100% clean. Despite room is small, if you have room with balcony, you even have view on the ocean. Breakfast is as good as any other 4* or 5* hotel, despite the room is small but big enough for the size of this small hotel. Kitchen cooks for you your desire breakfast. Shower with confortable hot water.
Itacimirim
The hotel is beautiful! It is just right by the beach like on the photos with two spotless clean pools on site. The beach on the front is It's open sea so it's not the best place for a dip. A short walk to either right or left will provide a nice area for a swim. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The room was big and clean. The staff was friendly and always ready to help. I really enjoyed my stay and so did my partner and I would love to return the next time I am back in Bahia.
Ilha de Boipeba
It is an amazing place, with a very considerate and friendly owner, George! This is the the best place I have stayed since I was in Brazil. You wake up with the birds chirping, amazing full-vegan breakfast with a touch Bahian cuisine. I looked forward to the mornings during my stay. If you are coming to Boipeba, this is the place to stay, I will hopefully come back very soon. Thank you for everything, George, Geison and all the friendly ladies working there!
Santo Antonio, Salvador
fantastic location in old colonial building in Pelourinho! you can reach all places by walk in centro. Claudio his uncle and father running the place and they doing great job. Very nice breakfast served on the terrace with view of Bahia and ilha Itaparica. Breakfast was tasty n rich with lot of fruits and great coffee. Good value for money, welcoming people around you. We would stay even longer but hotel was fully booked.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and the hotel itself was 20 feet from the beach. You do not got to Salvador to spend all your time in the hotel. Hit Hotel was everything we expected, wanted and needed for this trip. The staff were very helpful and attentive and it was in the perfect location. I would recommend Hit Hotel in Salvador Bahia, Brazil every time. We will be staying there again when we go back to visit.
Igatu
Wow!! What a beautiful place and stay!! Getting to Igatu is quite an adventure (some could say quite a challenge), but all is forgiven once you get to the Pousada. The place is charming and well located. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a trip back to David’s childhood with tropical fruits, countryside Brazilian coffee and all the Nordeste treats you can find in Bahia. 10 out of 10.
Salvador
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming The hostel is also 5 minutes walk from Pelourinho Square so perfect for exploring the old town of Salvador. The breakfast was good and I liked the fresh fruit and juices lthough I thought some of the things could be labelled as they are traditional Bahian dishes and a foreigner obviously won't know what they are (sweet or savoury).
Praia do Forte
This is the third time we chose IberoStar Bahia for our family vacation. Excellent food, tremendous pool, the beach can be reached with a few steps. If someone wants peace, fun, respectful environment, excellent service, night shows, child activities, and excellent food, this is the place to go. All three times we spent 7 nights at the hotel, always looking forward to return.
Rio Vermelho, Salvador
This is my second time staying here and my room was even better this time around. I was on the 3rd floor with a balcony and wonderful sea views. The breakfast here is honestly amazing. I’ve been staying at various hotels in Bahia/ Salvador and this is the most generous spread. If you need to work there are tables downstairs with lots of sockets.
Great location in the heart of Pelourinho. The building has a lot of character and the rooms are buzzing with Bahia character. The hotel also has a spa with a jacuzzi, steam room and massage options. The highlight are the staff, Erick and Gabriel were super helpful and always had a smile on their face. Definitely a place we would go back 😊
Vitoria, Salvador
A lovely house, it gave me a sense of living in Salvador 100 years ago. Light and airy and tastefully decorated. The suite was cute. The breakfast is the best I have had in many years of staying at hotels in Bahia. The staff and owner are charming and kind. A gem of a place. I will return. The location is excellent.
Trancoso
Casa de Perainda exceeded our expectations and contributed to a trip that we will never forget! Every detail at the hotel was thoughtful. There were so many amazing surprises along the way - especially the breakfasts. We will be back and will recommend to anyone travelling in Bahia!
Good Bed, Excellent breakfast from 7am to 10 am, Friendly staff, I was on a pleasure and business trip as I had some work to do at the university of Bahia and the Hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes from the university. Also very close to the main attractions in the city.
Itacaré
beautiful room with huge space. super nice balcony and lots of green. by far the most beautiful hotel we stayed in Bahia. super kind staff, specially the receptionists, already ready to help. i can only say good things about Burundanga. thank you
Morere was definitely our best Bahia experience and the hotel was the icing on the cake. Great hospitality, lovely bungalows and breakfast/dinner really nice. Not easy to get there, but what you get is paradise. Don’t miss.
I had a fantastic stay in this bahian style decor hotel. Food and drinks at the restaurant were exceptional, so was the daily breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I can also recommend the various experiences they offer.
Salvador
This hotel is located a stone's throw away from Pelourinho in the very heart of historic Bahia. From there you can walk to all main tourist sites of the old city. Staff is very nice and helpful and make you feel like home.
We spent some very pleasant days with our family, everything was perfect, all the people at the hotel are very helpful, the social areas are very quiet and the restaurant is perfect. The best place to be in Bahia.
We liked the service, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to have a pool at the hotel to cool off from the Bahia heat. The breakfast was small but delicious. We loved the tranquility of the hotel.
