Small hostel with the family living on premise. They were very kind and accommodating. Everything was kept very clean. Excellent wifi. A good portion of San Jose is a little dangerous these days but this neighhborhood felt quite safe. It has quite a few restaurants (and a good gym) within walking distance but lacks a nearby laundry service and not offered by the hostel. Something to ponder if you plan on staying longer. Bed was comfortable.

I loved the location of the hostel, in Bario escalante, which is safe and vibrant. Communication with the host was great and I very much appreciate all the info about busses and transport to make the most out of my limited time in Costa Rica. There are enough showers, sinks and toilets on the corridor, I never had to wait to use one. The space is clean, with high ceiling and airy. I loved the fact that they have paper towels and the whole digital codes with clear instructions on what to use where.

I extended my stay! I don't normally enjoy dorms, but this one was an exception. I really liked the open concept, which keeps the space airy and fresh compared to other stuffy dorms. Some might find it noisy, but i just put my headphones on when needed - and didn't have any issues. The "capsules" are modern, clean, comfy, and functional. The modern shared bathrooms outside make it convenient. The rest of the house is full of nooks to hang out, inside and outside, with creative decor. The staff is the real treasure: super friendly and ready to help. Def the best hostel choice for SJ
